A beautiful woodland golf course which at times makes you feel like you have the course to yourself. Even after a week of poor weather the course was in fantastic condition. There are some lengthy walks between holes and some tough hills to climb so a buggy should be considered for the less mobile.

Quite possibly the best course I've played. There is not a single weak hole. Very long and, quite often, steep walks from green to tee, so, while not essential, a buggy is recommended. Down side of that is you have to stick to buggy paths, which, due to the nature of several holes can be quite time consuming. Ironic when the club sets great store on speed of play.
The course meanders through wooded valleys and accuracy is the key, each and every hole presents a clearly defined target, either off the tee or into the green, however a few marker posts wouldn't go amiss.
Down side of our day was the poor state of the bunkers (of which there are many), at £70 a pop I would expect them to be raked and, having rained the previous day, the sand was compacted making it difficult to get under the ball.
We were also a bit miffed to be told to speed up our play when we had waited on every tee and every fairway to play our shots. I explained to the martial that he should look for slow play at the front of the queue rather than the tail!

In my top ten courses all though revisited after not playing the course for two years the greens were not as good as i remember but this could just be down to course maintanance as i have played about ten time before this and the course was outstanding. Amazing scenery, interesting holes with one of the best par three's ever. Club house is slightly expensive if you an avergae joe going in twilight hours but the club house is worth a the visit for beer garden overlooks the breathtaking 18.

A great course with many different challenges, a number of brilliant signature holes, playing over water, dense rough or valleys, means that making the correct shot and club selection a must. The club house is great with a good spikes bar that does excellent food. Non members recieve a warm welcome and you will want to return and play again, and again. Only word of warning, take a buggy unless you have an electric trolley as some of the climbs and descents are steep, but that is only a minor quibble.

Played on 10/5/2011 on a 2fore1 voucher.First off at 07.27 seen only 2 other golfers all way round.Course in lovely condition throughout with breathtaking views. We looked at reviews and were advised to have a buggy, we should have walked, not as bad as we expected (long walks between some tees).Course appeared fairly short as long as your driving is straight, greens had been heavily dressed, course worth a visit.

Very good course. We were advised to get a buggy but didnt, as we are 2 30yr old males. This is an extremely tough walk - SO GET A BUGGY.

Some fine looking and challenging holes, particularly the par3's. Greens were in average condition, but course in good nick.

Take 2fore1's here, whoch you need as a non member was £49.00 mid-week for a round. without buggy.

Played 16/17 April, greens had been cored recently and were really bumpy - near unplayable. Give it a few more weeks and it would be in great condition The course was a bit rough around the edges in some parts but absolutely stunning in others. I think the warm weather caused a bit of unexpected weed/grass growth so again in a few weeks time when members get back on the course it would be stunning. Very friendly people, everything was reasonably priced and the accommodation at the local hotel was incredible. Had a great weekend.

This course is the best Peter Allis design that I have played. If you take the time to "stop and smell the rose" or in this case look around you will be treated to perhaps the most beautiful collection of golf holes that you can find in this country.
The downside is that the course is HARD, both in terms of playability and walking. The latter is easily solved by hiring one ot their over-priced buggies - the former require some intensive work with the driver as long and straight is a REQUIREMENT from the tee if you expect to make it round in par.
