Hidden gem is an overused phrase in golf...

...but this genuinely is one! Located practically in the shadow of Wembley stadium, this is a real treat around London. The course was in stunning condition, the food was fantastic and great value and the staff were very welcoming. You can't fault this place. I'd just like to work out how to put a decent score together here!

Great course in London

Very nice course with some lovely holes and great views of London. Greens were lightning quick making it a real challenge. Very friendly staff and excellent facilities.

Quite a hilly course, built on the side of the slopes from the clubhouse down to the canal. View from the clubhouse is therefore quite spectacular. I play this course every year about end of June/early July, and it is always in very good condition, although the recent hot weather and no rain has left most course looking rather brown, and Sudbury is no exception. Despite that, the tees and greens benefit from sprinklers, so only the fairways are very dry. Bunkers seemed to be good (avoided them all except one). Some quite tricky greens about. There has been one big change since I played in 2017 - the course is now played 'the other way round' - i.e. the first hole is the old 10th, which has been made a par 5 (it was 460 yard par 4, stroke 1, so a necessary change as it is now the first hole). SSS from the yellow tees is 70, which is level par, so still a good test, especially it it's windy as it was when we played. Food and drink is decently priced bearing in mind how close the course is to central London, and everyone seemed quite friendly, although the fact that our 'society organiser' is a recent Past Captain probably helps. Whilst there are a couple of water fountains around the course (at 5th and 15th tees) - take plenty of drink, as the course being hilly means you use more fluids than usual. Lovely course - already looking forward to next year.

Pleasantly Surprised

Only 20 minutes approx from central London this course has certainly flown under the radar of many golfers it has certainly hidden to me until today.

Very well kept course and the friendliest staff and members and I've ever encountered at a course. Good value for money too. Can't wait to return.

Great fun, course in great condition.

I'd struggle to find fault with anything about Sudbury. Played it for the first time in ten years today. Public day so we started off the 10th. £25 and the Harry Colt designed course was in terrific condition. I honestly couldn't fault it. Wish I could say the same for my golf game. You need to putt well to score her. Be warned, there's a couple of hills for those who don't like that sort of thing.

Despite the bad weather of the last few weeks, the course was in excellent condition. Always been a fan of this course, some real challenging holes where you have to hit long and straight.

Really nice testing course. Greens were in immaculate condition. Staff were friendly on the whole. The 'pro' was a 17 year old kid, who was nice enought but did really know how to deal with people properly. Perhaps he was shy.

This is a course I always enjoy playing. The greens are always fast and in great condition. Only one par 5 on the course, because the others on the original design were considered too short some years ago. These are now long par 4's - the 10th is SI 1 - 460 yards invariably into wind, and the 17th is not much shorter and all uphill.

Please pause by the bench at the first tee - it's dedicated to a good friend of mine (David Ashton) who sadly died in 2005, who was Captain at Sudbury in 1993.

1 pesky seagull

Very obliging in the pro shop. But slow once the 4 balls were caught. Fairways & greens in excellent condition. Never seen a seagull first push a ball on the green & then pick it up!

Played at this golf club with the Disabled Golf Association and left my golf jacket in the buggy, phoned them up the next day and they had my jacket,i then got through to the main office and spoke to a Peter Lowery who found it,i asked if they would be able to post it to me as i lived quite away from them and offerd to pay p/p, he said he would and posted it to me the next day i asked what the cost was and said that it was OK no problem. Couldn\'t have been more helpfull in fact all the staff were more than helpfull to all of us. Would highly recommend this golf club
