Fairways look like they’ve seen enough rain. Greens that were slow & some torn patches. The rough was saturated in areas. This is winter golf. Slow to get round & a so a closed kitchen. Will be back. In Spring.

I have played Sudbury numerous times over the last thirty years - I am not a member (unlike John Godwin below who obviously is).
Its an average course and has some good holes, 2, 9 and 17 but also some poor ones, 6,8,12 and 14.
To say it is the best in West London is just biased - I prefer Ealing, West Middx and Fulwell,

Our group enjoyed an Awayday (afternoon round) at Sudbury GC. Organisation from the club was excellent. A friendly reception from the pro shop and catering/bar staff. Parking was a challenge though tokens are available for on street parking. We enjoyed the variety of holes and the challenge of the classic Harry Colt greens. This is a hilly course and quite a physical challenge for those used to flat parkland golf. Certainly worth the effort. Drinks on the terrace after the round were a real pleasure with great views over the course and NW London.

Nice course, worth a visit

Hidden away near Wembly, nice course with some challenging holes. Greens in reasonable condition, some suffering from frost damage. Fairways being disrupted by the geese in places, but overall in reasonable condition. Some bunkers felt short of sand - hitting bottom of bunker. But definitely worth a visit - staff very pleasant and look after visitors.

Good course and venue

Quite a hilly course, built on the side of the slopes from the clubhouse down to the canal. View from the clubhouse is therefore quite spectacular. I play this course every year about end of June/early July, and it is always in very good condition.

With the tees and greens benefitting from sprinklers, the course was in superb condition. Bunkers were good (and well stocked with decent sand). Some quite tricky greens about, which were quite quick this year as it was almost 30degrees and so the ground was hard.

WHS course rating from the yellow tees is 127, so a good test, especially it it's windy as it can be. Food and drink is decently priced bearing in mind how close the course is to central London, and everyone seemed quite friendly, although the fact that our 'society organiser' is a Past Captain probably helps.

Whilst there are a couple of water fountains around the course (at 5th and 15th tees) - take plenty of drink, as the course being hilly means you use more fluids than usual.

Lovely course - already looking forward to next year.

With the tees and greens benefitting from sprinklers, the course was in superb condition. Bunkers seemed to be good (I managed to avoid them all this year). Some quite tricky greens about. Some small cracks starting to appear in the fairways, but a local rule allows a free drop.

WHS course rating from the yellow tees is 127, so a good test, especially it it's windy as it can be. Food and drink is decently priced bearing in mind how close the course is to central London, and everyone seemed quite friendly, although the fact that our 'society organiser' is a recent Past Captain probably helps. The only downside as far as I can tell is the rather small carpark, although there is an overflow carpark in the centre of the course.

Whilst there are a couple of water fountains around the course (at 5th and 15th tees) - take plenty of drink, as the course being hilly means you use more fluids than usual.

Lovely course - already looking forward to next year.

Think we picked a bad day with the amount of leaf fall just off the fairway & greens both of which played well. All the recent rain left only the slightest of those signs this early in the winter but the leaves were a killer & lost 5 balls adjacent to fairways & once just off the apron. Sure it will be fine next week as there were many groundskeepers in evidence.

Sudbury GC. A great course in the heart of an urban metropolis

A lovely course within the sprawling Greater London area. Great views around the course of various London landmarks. Some really good holes that offer chances of making a score, but some that can ruin your scorecard. Course in good condition considering there hadn't been any rain for weeks. Teeboxes were OK, some needed work, as they were very uneven in places. Fairways were maintained well, with some of them having severe slopes making shots difficult, with the ball being above or below your feet on quite a few holes and the greens were true in pace, with some subtle breaks and borrows. Decent old style clubhouse with very friendly staff. Good size putting green, a couple of driving nets near the 1st teebox. All in all a good course that's worth a visit if you're in the area.

Played here couple of times now and each time we thoroughly enjoyed it. Tee boxes are well kept, fairways are in good condition and greens are fast and true. Course layout is varied with reachable in 2 par 5s and good length par 3s. Great views of the city from most holes and with canal running side of the course it makes it picturesque also.

ExCAP Open Day

I have been organising an annual golf day at Sudbury for coming on 30 years, simply because the club always extend a warm welcome, the course is always in excellent condition, and the food always first class - and all at a sensible cost. Excellent setting and facilities - what more could you ask for. I would definitely recommend Sudbury to anyone wanting either just a golf day out or anything more ambitious like organising a tournament!

Quite a hilly course, built on the side of the slopes from the clubhouse down to the canal. View from the clubhouse is therefore quite spectacular. I play this course every year about end of June/early July, and it is always in very good condition, although the recent hot weather and no rain has left most course looking rather brown, and Sudbury is no exception. Despite that, the tees and greens benefit from sprinklers, so only the fairways are very dry. Bunkers seemed to be good (avoided them all except one). Some quite tricky greens about. There has been one big change since I played in 2017 - the course is now played 'the other way round' - i.e. the first hole is the old 10th, which has been made a par 5 (it was 460 yard par 4, stroke 1, so a necessary change as it is now the first hole). SSS from the yellow tees is 70, which is level par, so still a good test, especially it it's windy as it was when we played. Food and drink is decently priced bearing in mind how close the course is to central London, and everyone seemed quite friendly, although the fact that our 'society organiser' is a recent Past Captain probably helps. This course will not dissapoint

At just over 6000 yards, a challenging course that requires you to hit fairways. It's well laid out, pleasing on the eye, with fast greens, some having tricky slopes to contend with. This course is hilly, has strategically placed bunkers and a few dog legs on the back nine. Well looked after and definitely worth a visit.
