Exceptional!!!!
This review is long overdue!I cannot recommend Stowmarket Golf Club enough, including the course and Jon Markham, the head professional. I have been a member for three years now and have also been part of five other clubs, giving me a well-informed perspective to share.
The club - The facilities and staff are exceptional, fulfilling all the expectations of a member. Both on and off the course, the staff are always eager to assist and provide excellent service.
The course - A picturesque parkland course that is consistently maintained to a superb standard. The grounds staff deserve commendation for their year-round dedication, ensuring every aspect from tee to green is impeccable. The greens, in particular, deserve special mention. Thank you for your efforts.
Jon Markham - Let me highlight the extraordinary nature of this individual! Over the past two years, I have had the privilege of having over a dozen lessons with Jon. Not only is he a remarkable golf coach, but also an exceptional person. His enthusiasm, encouragement, and positivity in communicating ways to improve are unmatched. He personifies a humble expert, and his genuine eagerness to help keeps you connected. Jon Markham is undoubtedly an invaluable asset to Stowmarket Golf Club.
Kudos to everyone for your outstanding work! While members may not express it frequently enough, your efforts truly make a significant impact on every visitor's experience.

Suffolks Best Parkland?
For me, I think this is the best parkland in Suffolk.Everytime I play I find a different test. The layout and variety of the holes is great and I have always found it to be in great condition too. You will find trees if you are wayward from the tee but as long as you play sensible you can still make pars.
The 4th is great as too the 17th.
Always getting better too.

Great course and club
Really nice course and lay out is good. Fairly open so not overly challenging in areas. Gives you more confidence with the driver which is good.Club house, restaurant and bar is well stocked and food has always been good when eaten there.
Pro shop is really well stocked up, and friendly staff.
Practise areas look well maintained.

Best Suffolk Parkland
Stowmarket is the best parkland in Suffolk. The rolling hills - especially on the back 9 - make for a challenging but fun game and some of the views are great.
The 4th hole - a 245 yard par 3 - plays downhill so getting the right club/line is key. The course is tight in places with tree lined fiarway's and well placed bunkers. The greens are also a good defence as they are slick and tough to read. One or two have a lot of slope too.
Its a great course and a fair test of golf for all abilities.

First time at Stow- Will be back
I only live 15 miles from Stowmarket but had never played the course. Received a warm welcome and a fantastic full English breakfast.Considering the lack of rain recently I felt that the course was in excellent condition with the fairways in good order and true and fast greens.
Personally preferred the front 9 as it had a little more variety than the back 9.
I felt the course was well laid out and easy for a first timer to see where the next tee box was.
There were a few blind shots which is fine so I'm confident on a second visit that I could knock a few shots off what I scored today. The course is a parkland course which was a nice change from my normal links style course.
Had a couple of nice drinks in the excellent clubhouse afterwards.
Will definitely be back.

Best in the area
In terms of general condition this has to be one of the best in the area. The greens were lightening fast and will catch you out in places.
The course itself is a great challenge and you need to miss in the right places. The course is fairly forgiving and if you find yourself in the trees you will have a shot out to and extent.
Some holes really get you thinking off the tee too.
All round a great test in great condition.

Fairly tight off the tee in places and don't really need to hit driver everywhere. Finding fairways is as must but if you do miss you will still have fun trying to find the greens.
Its a lovely layout, very testing and dont be sucked into thinking its easy as a par 69, some brutal holes.
Only 2 par 5's with one being the opening hole and some of the greens are hard to hit so will really test your iron play.
Watch out for the 245 yard par 3 4th hole (plays downhill so can chase a long iron onto the green)
Lovely place to play golf.
