Gainsborough Course - Really nice, hilly course. Tees, fairways and greens in good condition. It had been raining and most of the bunkers were full of water! Some very tricky holes and watch out for the rough, it's deep and swallows up your golf balls, never to be seen again!

We played the Constable Course at the Stoke by Nayland complex today. Having only played the Gainsborough course I 5's). The greens run fair with some bobles found the Constable to tough but a much fairer test of golf. There are several great golf shots to hit, mainly the tee shots at 1,2, 13, 16 and 18 and the third shots at 4 and 15 (both Par 5's). The greens did bobble on several holes but did generally run true and were very deceptive. The only reason I did rate the course as excellent was as the teeing areas were rubbish, mostly very dry mud, but these were the winter tees as they were preparing the main tees for upcoming events. Definitely a course to play if your in the Essex / suffolk region.

lovely, lovely course. well laid out and relaxed atmosphere in the clubhouse for a golf club of this size. very challenging.

Gainsborough course has a few hills . Coffee shop half way round with toilets. The greens not as good as the Constable course.. Challenging course with some nice holes lovely par 3 to end over water..
Very good food with bar. Driving range as you drive in on the left..hotel facilities on site.

Stoke By Nayland Sunday /Monday November
We went for an overnight stay from Sunday to Monday. The facilities are excellent and the courses are interesting with some challenging holes. Having said that I'm not sure this a course to play in the winter. The constable was very wet underfoot and muddy in lots of places. Rain and wind stopped us from playing the Gainsborough on the Monday. However the manager gave us a voucher to return for another game which was very fair. I am looking forward to playing the courses again this summer.Reviewer Rating

The greens had been treated with sand and slit . But poor greens before this. Should be a discount until greens are sorted out.

Pretty good
Loads of good stuff.Only played golf so can’t comment on the hotel.
But pro shop excellent, bar reception excellent as we’re overall facilities.
Played the Gainsborough course.
Some lovely holes, and greens mostly very good, although some quite patchy - probably leather jacket damage. Fairways good, but many of the bunkers in poor condition. Needs looking at- bit of weed killer and some more sand!
Quite slow.
Overall happy.
