Nice course - looked a bit tired

I've played here many times over the years and this is the first where I felt that the course was not at it's best. The greens had recently been spiked making putting a bit challenging - shame as it's normally a good afternoon out. Plus everyone was backed up so adding to the frustration.

Slow play and poor greens, disappointing

A good friend is a member and he hosted a three ball yesterday, it took 5 & 1/4 hours! We were behind a number of 4 balls, who had stayed at the hotel, and clearly they had preference over club members, that cannot be right? We had to wait to play EVERY shot and spoke to the two lady members at each tee box! They were in a competition and yet the 4 balls in front took preference and an age to play their golf.

sunday saver weekend

As part of a group of twelve I played both courses at stoke by nayland on a Sunday saver package and both courses were in very similar condition which was very poor, in fairness although the week we played had been very dry the week before had rained each day never the less the greens were atrocious, the fairways unrecognisable and the condition of both courses very poor. T.he hotel was very good as was the food and bar prices reasonable

Needs work - Disappointing

Played here a few years ago and remember it being very good. Not any more. Probably 16 holes off of temporary tees. Despite these being set in tee boxes that looked perfectly playable. Greens that were patchy and inconsistent. Fairways and surrounds that were scruffy. We were here for two days and didn't see a single green keeper / worker. This course needs work done on it. It's still an interesting layout but severly let down by its condition.

Not at its best

Condition of course left a lot to be desired. Greens in particular were inconsistent and rough. Too many blind shots either from tee or from fairway.

Food was poor. Roast beef as tough as old boots and one of the cheeses offered was rancid.

People friendly. Room facilities were good. Just a shame about the condition of the course.

The Club and Hotel are near perfect, but I'm afraid that the two course's are in need of some extreme maintenance, Green's are very very poor, bunkers lack any condition and the rough is like cornfields. Tree lines are not maintained and in general both course's are under manicured, I have played better maintained public courses, how they can advertise these course's as championship beggars belief. I would not take a society here unless there is an a greater improvement in course conditions and a reduction in course visitor fees.

Nice course although if you dont know the layout take a map as some of the walks between the tees are long and not very well signed. Greens were good and fairways wide and forgiving. We had a meal afterwards which was average.

Second visit, first was last March when the course was ridiculously wet, boggy & essentially unplayable, which I hadn't expected from a course that was ranked so highly by a lot of people.

In much better condition this time, probably a consequence of being closed to the public a lot in the preceeding weeks for tournaments. Would like to go back an play again but not at the prices they're asking.

Golfshake Team ReviewThis course has gone down hill in the last few years as they put more attention on the hotel and spa.

Is a good layout with a nice variety but golf clearly comes 3rd in the pecking order so the general condition of both courses is not what it used to be.

Good course better of the two courses at Stoke by Nayland. bit a tardy in places could do with some TLC. not as good as we had expected it to be. Hotel very nice, staff were very friendly. Although 2nd evening meal service was very slow and poor.
