The Club and Hotel are near perfect, but I'm afraid that the two course's are in need of some extreme maintenance, Green's are very very poor, bunkers lack any condition and the rough is like cornfields. Tree lines are not maintained and in general both course's are under manicured, I have played better maintained public courses, how they can advertise these course's as championship beggars belief. I would not take a society here unless there is an a greater improvement in course conditions and a reduction in course visitor fees.

Played on second day of a golf trip to SBN having played the Gainsborough the day before. Also an excellent course and similar in design to it's sister course. Some challanging holes and an interesting layout. Pretty tough to walk it and several others were using buggies. Course was in great nick, save for the greens which seemed pretty slow and the majority of our group struggled to get the pace of them, leaving several short. Course facilites and hotel were both excellent as we will definitely think about coming back here in the future.

First time playing here with mates from work on a golf break. Really interesting course with several testing holes and many changes in elevation. Local knowledge of it would be a plus as some holes are tricky to play to certain areas without it. The 18th is a great par 3 finisher over water which completely battered me.

Constable Stoke by Nayland

Played this course as part of a overnight package at the end of winter, the greens had been holotined and sanded but that was expected, the course has a fantastic layout and is not easy, it can be hard to judge where to land the ball on the green as a lot of greens are above the fairway. The staff are outstanding, very friendly and I could not fault the food. I would like to go there in the summer. We played this course second.

Both courses in good condition. The Constable appeared to be more manicured than the Gainsborough. Greens were good on both. Very firm everywhere due to recent dry weather so hard to get a ball to hold a green. Hotel was excellent, as was food. Staff did well despite probably being a little short on no's. Excellent dinner. Look forward to heading back in the future.

Went there for an overnight stay bed and breakfast evening meal and two rounds of golf which was good value for money. Both courses are very challenging which some great holes. The facility?s are great and the staff are very good. The greens in places could do with some attention and the courses need to be tidied up, specially the constable. Saying this it is a good facility and worth a visit.

sunday saver weekend

As part of a group of twelve I played both courses at stoke by nayland on a Sunday saver package and both courses were in very similar condition which was very poor, in fairness although the week we played had been very dry the week before had rained each day never the less the greens were atrocious, the fairways unrecognisable and the condition of both courses very poor. T.he hotel was very good as was the food and bar prices reasonable

Slow play and poor greens, disappointing

A good friend is a member and he hosted a three ball yesterday, it took 5 & 1/4 hours! We were behind a number of 4 balls, who had stayed at the hotel, and clearly they had preference over club members, that cannot be right? We had to wait to play EVERY shot and spoke to the two lady members at each tee box! They were in a competition and yet the 4 balls in front took preference and an age to play their golf.

Very nice layout with a mixture of short and long holes and some good water hazards. In particular, I thought the 10th was a superb par back and forth over a large reservoir. Was a shame then the course was in pretty poor condition in every way the day I played it: tees with lots of divots and quite uneven, bunkers not enough sand and greens very bobble and too firm to hold the ball. Hopefully this is a one off due to dry weather/lack of staff available but disappointing nevertheless.
