Very nice course for the money

Good nice wide open course, 2nd time i have played this course very wet this time in places but still very playable, booked it through groupon and ment to have 10% discount on food and when got there to be told there was no food being served, and went to get a beer after the round to be told they had stopped serving at 6pm so not pleased with that part

The course is in good condition, unfortunately the course manager overbooked the Tees so we ended up with a FIVE hour game which on a Friday afternoon is crazy. Many people very unhappy and i for one will not play there again.

Some nice holes but the greens were awful, having played a number of course in the county the past few weeks these are bar far the worst along with with Delapre. As I've read on many reviews here, don't expect a round under 5 - 5 1/2 hours. No marshalls and painful waits on tee's and fairways.

Six hour round Saturday followed by three hours to play seven holes Sunday which resulted in us walking off after the seventh as it appeared to be slowing even more. It's a shame because it's a nice course and nice hotel and a fair price ( probably why it's so busy ) . Unfortunately I will never be returning the waiting times are to much , Marshalls required !!!!!

Shocked at the condition of the course. Greens were fluffy and so slow it was ridiculous for July. Fairways were shabby and tee boxes were in poor condition. Can see it was/is a good course but it looks tired and have no desire to play it again. Needs serious money spending on it.

ok at best

Difficult to write a fair review in such challenging times for everyone. Course looked nice, had been cut and with the sun out, looked very appealling, Greens were painfull slow.....think slow, then double it !!
The hotel is in need of a bit on renovation, the rooms are pretty small, esp if your in a twin . The restaurant was a little disappointing, arguably one of the poorest calvery i've ever seen. One meat option (pork loin) breakfast belonged in a motorway service station.
Played the Sunday and bank holiday monday, a fairly large group had been thrown out the hotel and for 45 mins the first tee was completley empty - but no one thought to offer us the earlier option - as such, got stuck behind a four ball that clearly weren't in a hurry to get back home to the missus. nothing but empty course in front of them, but never seemed to worry about people behind.
But I think the most disappointing thing about this venue - their prices are just stupid. the bars were almost empty, and you only have to order a drink to find out why...... 3 drinks (spirits and mixers) £19:80 Really ??
Took some non golfers with us - but all the leisure facilities were out of use - no one could say why, other than covid - even though every other hotel didn't have a problem opening them up.
It's an ok venue - set in beautiful countryside, but one that I won't go back too.

Strange course set up

This is a strange course with the 18th hole finishing at the back of the residential complex and a long walk around the hotel from 9th to 10th, giving an eerie feeling and not making the most of the clubhouse and patio area. This is a very straight forward course with no real demons. As ever (see Selsdon Park), I am not sure what the De Vere relationship provides because we finished at 5.30pm to be told the clubhouse and bar was closed even though they had 3 societies playing. poor customer service.

ok

In summer it may be decent, I think it was ok. Played off the whites made it better and to be honest the back 9 has a lot of character but I remember getting a bit bored on the front 9. However it could be argued that I have become a bit of a course snob with some of the great courses I have played.

Went on a golf break to Staverton Park, and quite disappointed. Saturday tee off at around 2:15 seemed OK. Sadly having waited on every tee, sometimes with another group, we finished on 17 at around 7pm and had played the previous 2 or 3 holes in almost total darkness. We didn't even bother on the Sunday as our tee time was at 3pm, if we couldn't get round starting at just after 2 then what chance at 3!
The course itself was quite nice, although the greens were certainly not of a standard I'd expect with the green fee price.
Its the second time, out of 3 different De Vere golf venues I've played at, that I've walked off the course without finishing my round because of slow play and the volume of people on it. On that basis, I doubt very much if I will be going to another De Vere golf venue again, unless it is an extremely good deal in terms of price!
