Great to have played the old course, it was in very good condition and all the staff (which there were lots of them) were very friendly and helpful. Through 7 & 11 it is a bit congested due to the layout. The bunkers are a great challenge and the first tee is nerve racking.

Awesome

Incredible venue, the course exceeded all expectations. Made to feel very welcome but the tee shot off the 1st is a little nerve wracking

Best Golfing Experience Ever!

What an amazing experience. Standing on the 1st tee is a feeling I will never ever forget. What a fun course even though the winds were 30 mph+. The town oozes golf out of every pore, everyone is here for one thing. I will be back. One visit is not enough.

Brilliant course, very welcoming

Great welcome from arrival through to the first tee. Course was in great condition, enough rough without being too penal.

Got to play this on a mid teens sunny with only light winds day. Was a truly great experience. The course is absolutely stunning start to finish. The views on some holes are the best you’ll find. The greens alone are worth the visit. Played well which always helps. Can imagine this course beating you up during a winter medal round ! If you hit a wide right don’t even both looking. Hit the fairways and you’ll enjoy you’re day. Must play in Scotland

Great experience would recommend to anybody as a must play. Very open and forgiving course but tough enough to make you think about every shot a joy to play

Fantastic

All the St Andrews courses are perfection, but try and play when not windy ruins your score. The greens are beautifully kept. The off course facilities are first class won't find better anywhere else

Always a terrific trip

Played the Castle Course for the first time. Forget any reviews you read about it being too hard/greens are ridiculous etc etc. This is a top course, giving golfers a real test (especially if the weather turns bad, which it did for us!). The rough can be brutal, the greens do test you and the wind can upset your swing, but for the views, hospitality & golfing test, it's magnificent.

Can't beat it

Old Course is a great experience. New and Jubilee are a better test of golf. Great all round golfing experience though.

The Old Course

As a single golfer on a weekend in Scotland I was hoping to play this famous course - note as a single golfer you probably need to arrive the night before and camp out to guarantee yourself a tee time!
It's more an experience than a round of golf, starting on the first tee aiming towards the burn and finishing with the Road Hole and the 18th.
Golf wise, a great course that really tests your shot making ability and allows you to get creative to navigate the contours of the land. Putting needs to be on point as does the ability to read the pin sheet - 140 to the front may end up being 180 to the pin!
Just an amazing experience! Caddies and marshals keep 4-balls to about a 4 hour round which is fine. Play if if you can, the home stretch is incredible.
