What the club says: The undulating 18-hole parkland course, opened in 1973, measures 5912 yards, par 71 & provides a challenge to golfers of all abilities. It is one of the best kept pay and play parkland courses in the North West and is open daily throughout the year from light until dusk. All golfers are welcome.

Each hole has its own unique features. Generally wide fairways do not unduly punish the high handicappers, but even scratch players will do very well to finish under par. Operated by Green Circle Leisure, operators of Allerton Manor Golf Club and Sherdley Park Golf Club.

Buggy Hire

Buggy that I paid £30 to use was not working fully, it was stop, start all the way around the first 12 holes and struggled to get up the smallest incline! They did say in the Pro Shop when I booked it, that they were having trouble with them charging up! I had a sprained ankle, so needed the buggy! Unfortunately it caused me more trouble than it was worth with my injury! Other friends who I was playing with suggested I change it as we went past the Pro Shop to play the final holes? I did this, explaining the problem to the Pro, which he acknowledged and gave me another one, which was no better! I asked my friends to try it incase it was my fault, they both agreed it was faulty! They said the Shop should reimburse me for the stress, trouble I’d endured! I mentioned this and despite the Pro admitting they did had problems with the buggies, they couldnt do anything about it! NOT GOOD ENOUGH!! Such a big pity as we enjoyed playing the course!

The course was in very poor condition, particularly the greens, which made for a less than enjoyable experience (to say nothing of the long waits on almost every tee). There were some interesting holes and in better condition the course could’ve provided good value for money. Staff were pleasant and the pro shop was well stocked.

Great course

First time I've played golf at sherdley for some time and they have reverted back to the original 1st tee which is good to see. The course is looking good on the eye with the cut contours of the fairways and greens in good condition too. Some bunkers need more sand in them but other than that we really enjoyed our game of golf, best course we've played for some time and will be back.

Nice friendly welcome on arrival, starter on first tee but was too busy taking to his ?friends? didn't even acknowledge we were there or teeing off. Course was busy, slow pace of play, really boggy in places, green were below average for the price you pay to play course, fairway was in good condition. Temporary tee boxes were not up to standard. Tee would learn either towards you or away from you, made the tee shots more difficult than needed. Should be reduced rate to play whilst course is in such a condition in my opinion

Really enjoyed it, today!

I haven’t played here since before it got renovated, I liked the back 9 and the improvements/changes they have made. They have done well to keep 6,7, 8 & 9 as they were though, it was always a good little run of holes so well done.

It needs more bins and ball cleaners, though. People had dropped litter on the fairways (scruffs leaving vapes) which I can’t blame the course for but more bins may encourage people to stop littering.

Well set out course in very good condition apart from somework needed on some bunkers. With private courses looking in excess of £40 nowadays this is a good value course with excellent catering facilities onsite. Buggy prices also reasonable.

Course in great condition, greens spot on.
Only criticism was the bunkers hadn’t been raked after the heavy rain in the early hour’s making it really difficult playing from them.

Played after 2 days of constant rain and was fearing the worst after reading some of the recent reviews. All things considered, the fairways and greens were in good condition, especially given some other local courses were shut. The rough is thick and punishing, could really do with a cut down just to make it a little easier for the average golfer. All in all, worth the money for £20.

Feels Unkempt and a bit neglected

A bit of a Disjointed layout, generally poor condition not playing off tees, greens were poor, lots or roped off areas generally scruffy and looked unkempt, only ?18 but not worth that , never really saw anyone ( including any greenkeepers ) , only giving a middle score for facilities as we didn't use any practice facilities or club facilities. No food and drink as it was closed.

January Visit

A cold and sunny day seemed ideal for a round of golf but unfortunately the recent weather has taken its toll on the course and in my opinion it should not have been open. Most of the holes were very boggy and made for extremely difficult conditions. A few holes on the back nine were OK due to improved drainage but the rest was poor. In better condition it is a nice course

Old member

Played Sherdley for the first time in 6/7 years, as an ex member I was looking forward to it. Pleasantly surprised with the new shop cafe etc; Course was very boggy in places and borderline unplayable. Not surprised considering the amount of rain we have had lately. However a lot of the greens had standing water on they, when I was a member they used to be immaculate. I set my targets before the round and surprisingly achieved both for score and amount of pars expected. However I'm still not convinced that I want to join, I will be playing a few more rounds over the next few months before I decide.

Some beautiful holes

First time playing sherdley park. I was very impressed by the club house on first arrival. There are several picturesque holes throughout this course and some with panoramic views of the area. The new holes towards the end of the course have excellent fairway drainage however some of the older holes were harder to traverse after rain but did not affect play, only walking. I'll look forward to playing here again
