Bit like the curates egg...
Good in parts! But too bad in many others. Tees like playing off a mound. Ball either above or below your feet. Many greens like playing on an upturned saucer - shots and even putts just roll off. Fairways, some good lies, others very poor lies. However, the Pro-Shop team were very helpful and courteous at all times. Stayed overnight and the hotel is in dire need of investment. My room had shower-over-bath. But the shower head didn't fit the holder so it was a hold-it-yourself-shower-over-bath! Reception didn't seem concerned when I told them. Hey ho. Dinner starter and main course were just about OK, but the extra charge of £3 for the cheese was not. A small piece of no-flavour goats cheese, a small piece of Stilton that was past its prime, and a piece of mouse-trap. What a joke! Breakfast buffet was a bit hit and miss too. Grapefruit juice was tasteless. Coffee was good, so were the sausages and eggs. But the bacon was under cooked with floppy fat. However, the waitress got the chef to cook some fresh. But that came out hard rather than crispy. At Premier Inn it's cooked fresh! And the bar prices were so over the top. The Wetherspoons down the road is a good bet! So all in all not a great experience. I won't be back. But i enjoyed the golf with good sportsmanship and great humour!(Round played: Sep 2019 - Score: 108 Handicap: 27.5)

Selsdon Park
Played on a sunny, dry day when the course was in very good condition. The course plays long and quite undulating so a stiff test for high handicappers but none the less enjoyable for that. Greens in good condition and variable in pace.Reviewer Rating

Long hilly course
Course was in excellent condition, greens were hard due to lack of rain. Should try play it in August after some summer rain. Some bunkers also need some more sand.(Round played: Jul 2019 - Score: 90 Handicap: 17.1)

Nice course and lovely people
Very friendly welcome by pro shop lady and a most enjoyable round. Course is hilly and in the heat of July, wished we had booked a buggy, but would thoroughly recommend.(Round played: Jul 2019 - Score: 108 Handicap: 23.2)

Some of the dogleg holes are difficult at first time of playing as because the course is so undulating you cannot really see where you are aiming for. The undulating nature also make this course one heck of a slog if you don't have the luxury of a buggy - felt like you needed crampons at some points to reach the green!
Could do with a bit more care and attention with respect of tee boxes, rough areas and greens - but at ?15 twilight price you can't really complain.

First time here
Selsdon Park is a really beautiful course. As a high handicap golfer, I found it very challenging. The greens were very inconsistent, where the elevated ones ran fast and the others very slow. I think a cut was needed to be honest. I also found the tough physically tough and won't play here again without using a buggy. Although my score wasn't the best, I know I could have done at least 10 shots better.

Could be better than it is
The course is in general in decent condition but some of the bare patches just off the green on many of the fringes look unsightly compared to the nice but slow greens.Fairways are a bit long and need a cut but cant complain.
One thing I will complain about is the placing of the tee markers by the green staff.
on a fair few tees they actually put them on a downhill slope. I wonder how many green staff actually play the game. Not a lot on this showing.
Its a lovely course with some nice holes but De Vere need to spend some money on getting it to look as good as it should like there hotels !!

A good course
A good course, probably under-rated, the mens changing room and showers are terrible, the worst i've seen for quite some time. I hope the hotel rooms are better! Not a great advert. I recommend the course though.(Round played: Jun 2019 - Score: 94 Handicap: 16.4)

Waiting for some love
Like most of the recent reviews agree the fairways are not in the best of nick, in fairness they are trying to grow them out, but that means not many tightly cut fairways are available. I am happy with this in the growing season though as hopefully will be of benefit later in the year. Was a very foggy morning so tough with a fourball in front for the 1st 9 as pace was slow. Layout is good though albeit not one of the scariest courses you will ever face.(Round played: Apr 2019 - Score: 95 Handicap: 19.7)

This is a wonderfully laid out course, lots of tough curling holes with a few dog leg, a couple of driveablepar 4s and a couple of par 3s with real character. It is reasonably priced for a London course. That said it is not the best kept course. The fairways are patchy and the bunkers are poor quality, more sand needed. The greens are also a major concern. They were quicker today but look like they have been holy tined and are therefore too bumpy to be true, frustrating. No clubhouse and a small shop seem adequate but if you needed a post round refreshment you will have to chance your arm in the hotel. Pace of play is another concern, 4 hours today which is acceptable but last week it was 5 hours which is totally unacceptable. There does need to be a marshall on course to speed up slow play and ensure slow players let quicker ones through. Overall well worth a visit and if they get greens and bunkers sorted out it will be an enjoyable test.Reviewer Rating
