Uplifting & great views
Great to be back & if I lived closer I?d join. It's a great course with proper challenges & views to lift your spirits & you certainly feel you've earned that drink at the 19th. Can't wait to get back. Only minor drawback is that the kitchen was closedReviewer Rating

Perfect conditions
For October. Best time to play such an exposed course is when the sun is out & no wind. However due to the course being in an environmentally protected area the rough was ruthless & whispy grass from a distance was anything but when the ball went off line. Greens fast enough & played very well but hard to hold it. Will keep on trying because it’s a brilliant challenge.Reviewer Rating

Novel course design
Not played here before. Very hilly course built across public land over and across the local hills. No hole is flat. Tee offs are either uphill to the green or down to the green. Some deep valleys cut across fairways. The rough is awful. Not on the fairway, play a provisional. Walking from green to tee on the 16th(?) is an uphill climb of some 70 ft and 200 yds. Not for the unfit. I would never have finished the course without a buggy. Local rule is that you have to have a medical condition to hire one. You will have one when you finish.Reviewer Rating

A fun challenge
Played April 2023. Royston golf course is a heathland-based course and is one of the hillier courses that I've played. Weather conditions on the day were poor, with rain/drizzle for the front 9 and strong winds for the back 9. Despite this, it was a truly enjoyable experience. The course provided a fun challenge that kept me on my toes throughout the entire round. Each hole presents a unique set of challenges. The fairways were well maintained and the greens were really well cared for. The course demands a broad range of skills, making it an excellent challenge for golfers of all levels. Despite the poor weather, the course is situated at
a higher altitude than much of the surrounding area, thereby offering some stunning views of Hertfordshire and Cambridgeshire. My understanding is that the rough can become particularly challenging through the summer months.
The practice facilities near the clubhouse are reasonable and include a pair of nets, a well-maintained putting green, and short game practice area comprising three holes
