Quite enjoyed playing here, the greens are great and the course generally in good condition. The rough was stil dormant when we visited, but I would imagine this will become quite penal once it starts to grow again. The course is very hilly, but drains exceptionally well which makes the walk a tiny bit easier. The course appears to be on common land, so be prepared to share your day with ramblers & dog walkers. The clubhouse itself is a monster par 6 from the nearest point of the course, which slightly detracts from the atmosphere, but it is friendly. The pro shop is quite good and Sean and his staff are very welcoming and very helpful. Green fee was £30 per round at the time of our visit.

Very hilly as others have mentioned wouldn't want to play on a windy day. Found course a little busy with dog walkers and horse riders. We were warned of this by the pro in shop before we started though. Very interesting course with some nice holes. Glad I played it but I'm sure there is better in the area!

Challenging course - very long rough

We found the course in good condition but there was very long rough which meant we were looking for balls and losing balls - unfair challenge - not rushing back to play here!

A bit of a trek

A rather strange course which has the clubhouse nearly ten minutes walk from the first tee. It is also VERY hilly, with quite harsh rough. We played it in 20mph winds and it was a real struggle. Greens were good, a few mats being used and disappointing to have no flag system, especially when some greens were difficult to gauge from a distance. Pro was very friendly and course was in good condition, but a bit too 'mountain goat' for me!

First time to play and its a gem of a golf course so if you get the opportunity to play on a sunny windless day go for it, you wont be disappointed. Good value for money!

Surprising gem

This course surprised me in terms of the quality of the greens and the work out it provided walking up and down hill. The holes are enjoyable with great views, you catch yourself just gazing out rather than paying attention to where your shot landed.Avoid the rough at all costs! The par 3's are strong with 2 over 200 yards within 3 holes. There is also a pitch and putt course near the clubhouse, but be prepared for a 10-15 minute walk from the clubhouse to the first tee.

Work out your calves on this challenging course at the edge of the Chilterns. Lovely view towards cambridgeshire.

Enjoyable and challenging course with some hefty climbs

Course is laid out on the edge of a steep hill, holes go mainly back and forth across the edge, I would say 5-6 fall in into the "angina hill" category. So, overall a challenging hilly course with positioning the approach shot key to scoring well. It is not long but you need to read the fairways correctly to have your ball end the correct side to come in to each green, the course drains well and when it's dry it's hard to hold many of the greens, often you need to bounce in from the correct side, you can run off the edges of many sloping fringes if you place it wrong. Greens themselves are flat-ish overall, a little disease from the Spring left when I played and a couple of real downhill front to back slopes to be wary off. Helps to have played it before for sure, who knew I could hit the 230yds par 3 10th with a five iron....

Great views all around the county on many holes and the real question is would I play it again? Yes. Top tip: once you have paid, drive your car to the rugby club car park and avoid the incredibly long walk from the clubhouse to the course and back.

Excellent bar and very friendly members!

Up and down, up and down. A real challenge. Many hills and long rough. I like the challenge, but it is stiff one.

An 'inland' links which is quite open and high up with views of 4 counties but not that difficult if you play it sensibly. I thought the course was in reasonable condition given the recent weather and the greens were true albeit quite slow.

Very hilly, VERY windy, green's a tad slow. However it's the hills and the wind that make this course interesting. I would advice hiring a buggy, it's hard going. Try to avoid the rough, it's tough rough.
