Has the ingredients for a really nice course but needs work
Played Princes yesterday after hearing several recommendatons of Richmond Park. First impression was very good. The clubhouse with its open veranda and spacious change room gives the impression that you're in for a premium golf experience.Unfortunately the course displays the downside of corporate ownership - they were letting anyone who turned up onto the course, regardless of bookings. I waited a half hour to tee off and behind two groups at every hole. Things finally opened up slightly around the 12th as groups seemed to be giving up.
The issue wasn't the crowding as much as poor ettiguite. People taking forever to put, walking across other fairways to play errant shots (without bothering to look uphill), etc. A couple of rangers going around on buggies to speed up play could improve things a good bit.
It's a great course for a high handicap player like me. The parkland setting makes it feel like a harder course than it is, but there are enough challenges around the greens to keep it interesting. The greens and most teeboxes were in good nick, but the fairway and rough were in pretty poor condition.
The course will always suffer with the curse of being so accessible to so many people, but improved management and reinvestment of earnings it could be a real gem.

Two courses The Princes and the Dukes bunkers need some work greens are usally quite quick . the Dukes is the harder course with a few ditches to carry or lay up. The Princes isquite easy some tricky holes and a long par 3.

Much improved condition for both courses plus new layout for each.
New clubhouse, a bit impersonal but a vast improvement on the old one.

Probably the easiest 18 hole golf course I've ever played. The greens are quick and in suprisingly good condition. An ideal course for lowering your handicap.
