SLOW SLOW SLOWEST EVER

Slowest round of golf ever. Over 4 hours 50!! And told by chap behind the counter that’s to be expected as a busy weekend.
Marshall has a hopeless task as they let all range of handicap golfers outs. Nice corse in places. But not really worth the money. Bar nice now but service in bar worse that the course as no bar staff and really noisy!

Slow

Far too slow, more interest in societies and over booking. If you’re happy with a 6 hour round and 3 groups on every tee, the course for you

Thanks for your comments Matt.

The course is continuous improving!

Pace of play is improving - not quite 5 hour rounds. 4.5 hours on average on a Saturday. Continued training for our on course team will result in much faster rounds moving forward!

Hi Alan,

Many thanks for your review and we are glad that you had an enjoyable round.

Unfortunately conditions at the moment are very much dictated by the weather and we are in the midst of a very consistent dry and windy spell.

We do have an irrigation system and are even hand watering key areas. It is the weather and our fast draining chalk base that is making conditions firm and fast. Much like a links course.

Unless you are playing a clay base course at the moment, fairways and greens will look very much like ours.

We hope to see you again soon.

Great course

This is a lovely, challenging course. The course has undergone significant redesign during the pandemic, with water in play (even more than in the old layout) and more bunkers. The greens and bunkers are in very good condition. The greens are quick and slopes that add to the difficulty. The four par 5's are tough and when it is windy, they are tough. The course is always very busy so be prepared to be paired up with other players.

Getting better and better

Greens in great condition. Fairways lot better than last year . Bunkers always been poor but have all been re done with additional bunkers added . The brick work around the clubhouse lakes looks so much better

You can see the club being excellent next summer and understand new club house on the horizon

Challenging course

I'm a recent member to Pyrford. The layout is excellent and a good mix of holes. There have been significant changes in recent years and it looks a little rough around the edges in places, but this will change over the next year or two. This will develop into a very pretty looking course. It's not a grip it and rip it course at all. In fact, last time I played, I hit irons off the tee about 75% of the time, although, that was off the yellows - whites would bring more woods into the mix. Greens were lovely. Receptive and rolling very nicely. The greens are faster than most in Surrey, but I prefer that. Found the sand twice, but noticed all the bunkers looked consistent with plenty of sand. Worth a visit.

Great course. Some improvements could make it great!

Myself and a few others visited this course in the middle of October 2020 and it is in by far a better condition than most courses I have visited over the last 12-18 months. Given the extremely wet weather we had, followed by no rain at all for months this course hardly shows that.

The greens are in immaculate condition and quite fast which was a welcomed change to my local course. There are some significant improvements going on around the course which include around water, fairways and layout of the course. I haven't seen this level of improvement works in a single course, ever!

The course is relatively short but don't be fooled, it isn't an easy course with lots of water in play. Add this to the fact that none of the par 5's are reachable in two unless you are extremely accurate. The short Par 4's are also very guarded making the risk far outweigh the reward but this is what makes golf interesting and fun.

We paid £30 each for a four ball on a Monday afternoon. This represents extremely good value for money. I would have easily paid more, maybe not without knowing the course though as it looks easy due to the yardage.

The only issue was some slow play which isn't expected on a Monday afternoon. I dread to think what it is like on a weekend. I don't think the layout helps the slow play with plenty of waiting for fairways to clear thanks to the short distance. That being said I don't think this is any different to any other course. My local course is around the same price and can be a hell of a lot slower than this and no where near as good a course.

I do think some people want wagyu steak for the price of mince, this course is fillet for the price of fillet. Would highly recommend.

Great track & friendly staff

Plenty of water but the greens are some of the best we've played.

Lots of interesting holes that need thinking through.

Great bar & patio area. Watch out for the on course drinks buggy though - prices are a bit steep. Wait until the 19th.

Thank you for your review - Unfortunately our fairway irrigation was out of action for a large part of the 2018 season - This has now all been resolved with a substantial investment in a new system. We now only have 3 fairways that are in need of renovation. We are currently topdressing, over seeding and feeding these fairways.

We look forward to seeing you back at the club very soon.

Kind regards

Played bank holiday Monday, 0800 tee off. The course was busy. We got out on time, first few holes no issue, but then a backlog formed and we were having to wait on every hole from about the 6th onwards. \\The front 9 is OK. i am not a fan of courses where you have fairways right next to each other, with errant drives possibly going onto other greens etc. This was an issue on a few holes on the front 9, but other than that it was decent.\\The back 9 was brilliant. Pretty much every hole had a very significant water hazard on it making them very interesting to play. \\The greens were in good condition, maybe a little long. But the slowish nature meant you could have a good go at putts without the worry of rolling it 30 feet past!\\All in all I was very impressed with the course and the condition (tee boxes need some work).\\Bar stuff were polite and helpful buyt serously understaffed given it was a sunny bank holiday morning!
