Nice course but be prepared for some steep climbs before you enjoy the fabulous views and intriguing mix of holes at this place. Very hospitable club/venue which offers good accommodation and food deals to stay and play. Our group had an excellent stay so already planning a return next year.(Round played: Aug 2021 - Score: 85 Handicap: 9)

Great Course
Fantastic course with good greens. Very pleasant on the eye with some wonderful views of the countryside from elevated tee points. However the club house is a bit pricey but it is a Country Club.(Round played: Aug 2021 - Score: 91 Handicap: 15.4)

Good hotel, course needs some work
Lovely layout but it's a long, hilly walk. The greens are quick but need care because they're all tricky. Some (the 15th in particular) have ridiculous slopes on them. The bunkers are poor as are several tee boxes. One is an almost permanent temp tee, even in August!
The hotel is large, but doesn't feel crowded. The food is good. The sports bar is expensive.
There are better resort courses, Belton Woods and Forest of Arden come immediately to mind.

Beautiful course, ideal location
Had the pleasure of an overnight stay at this course recently two rounds, evening meal bed & breakfast. The hotel was very nice, comfy, clean and plentiful on the food front! The golf course was testing, tight in places, but from the elevated tee positions on some holes the scenery and well layer out holes were very picturesque. Some of the t boxes were a bit bare and could do with some tlc but it was most enjoyable and had the pleasure of playing some good golf! I will return as will the rest of my group. Thoroughly recommend itReviewer Rating

Great course with tricky greens
Old Thorns is a lovely course (other than the 15th which is rather gimmicky with an impossible green). The greens are fairly fast and the course generally was in good condition. Definitely worth playing, and staying if you don’t mind a large impersonal hotel.(Round played: Jul 2021 - Score: 94 Handicap: 13)

great course
Was not disappointed with Old thorns. Did not know what to expect with the varying reviews. Hotel was great with spacious rooms although air con in the rooms would have helped. Sports Bar and Kings restaurant were excellent although the beers were £6 per pint. Great service throughout from all the staff at the hotel and Pro shop. Buggies are expensive at £40 per round but maybe needed for some as the course is in parts very hilly with some longish walks between tees, There at least 5 WOW views from various tee positions with spectacular scenery across Hants. Would recommend 100% for a golf group as all boxes ticked. Food was a hot buffet which turned out to be a Carvery with generous helpings. Breakfast was excellent with the full English being well cooked and hot. Fresh fruit and cereals are also available as well as the usual coffees and juices.(Round played: Jun 2021 - Score: 97 Handicap: 13.5)

Rubbish and a rip off
Too busy. Far too pretentious and expensive. A very ordinary golf course where buggies at £40 is a disgrace especially since they have to keep to the path making the round long with long distances across the fairways.KEEP AWAY
