One of the best courses in the Country and great value for money. A must play for all who are serious about golf and like the challenge oaf testing heathland course.

We have reciprocal with Hollinwell and went there last week for the first time. My husband had played it before about 20 years ago and raved about it so I organised it as a surprise for his birthday.
I have not enjoyed a round of golf so much in my life. Bearing in mind there were 30mph winds and it hammered down for the last third of the round - it sayd a lot for the course.
It is a complete gem. Each hole nestles into the natural contours of the land. Gorse and heather provide natural hazards but there are plenty of bunkers and water hazards to supplement them. Some parts of the course just take your breath away with the sheer beauty.
I cannot recommend this course enough for a visit. We had reduced rates and I suspect a full payment would be pricy but make a day of it - it is definitely worth it.
The only minute negative is the usual complaint I ahve about having to pay for drinks and food separately. I always feel that no matter what happens behind the scenes the customer shouldn't have to juggle who to pay for what - the bar should take the money for your order and then the 2 sections sort it out themselves.
This is a minor niggle though. The staff in the clubhouse were very friendly, the members were welcoming, the Pro shop were efficient and made sure we knew were everything was.
I will definitely go again - every year if I can!

Played this course on 29th October and had one of the best days golf ever. Course was in excellent condition and we received a warm welcome especially from Dave Flanagan the Catering Manager. So excited about the course will be returning very soon. If you can play well here then you know you have done well.

This is the best inland UK course I have played to date. Every hole ouzes class and is memorable long after the round has finished. From the drive down the long winding driveway to the club house, the friendly welcome and immaculate course, with tough rough, but fair if you stay on the fairways, th inward nine is tougher than the outward nine and a sss74 says it all. At 7000 yards an absolute class chamionship course.

Fantastic course, played as a guest of a member who did there best with helpful tips as we went round but main thing was to stay out of the rough as behind the second cut the heather was unplayable.
Lovely club house, friendly staff and good facilities to dry off after an absolute soaking on the course

A fantastic track! Some beautiful holes throughout this course will keep you interested from start to finish. You will need your A game to hit some of the greens nestled in between hills and heather!

Top notch in almost every respect. Great facilities, courteous and friendly staff, together with a superb course in great condition. Played Lindrick the day after and Hollinwell was better in every respect except the speed of the greens

Played this on the clubs '4 ball summer deal' which if compared to other top courses in area is brilliant value.
This course is rated as top 15 in England & top 40 in UK and its not hard to see why. Very similiar in style to Woodhall Spa but in my opinion its tougher!!

4 x par 4's over 420 yards.
You really have to think about your tee shot on every hole and i mean really think it through, you can't just simply 'Boom' it down fairway like you can on 99% of courses and expect to be able to play your second into the green.
If you manage to avoid the perfectly placed fairway bunkers and actually hit the tight fairways, but if your not in the perfect place, then the heather, or trees, or green side bunkers will make your second shot have to be something special... It really is that tough.

Without doubt the best layout I have ever played not a poor hole on the course. Some of the most devilishly placed fairway bunkers I have come across and true bunkers not your usual sandy hollows you can take a 3 wood to. If I was being hyper critical the greens were a bit woolley, but it is October after all. If you want to try golf how it was meant to be, give this gem a try. If you don't enjoy it you are playing the wrong sport, try darts or snooker.

The best course in Nottinghamshire bar none. Always in great condition. Great green, short finely cut fairways and menacing rough. Superb test of golfing skills.

This old heathland course is a severe test of anyones patience and golfing skills. Many prestigious competitions have been played here, including Open qualififying for 2008. The fairways are firm and fast, rough penal and greens so slick that a nudge travels 20ft, and in places as undulating as Augusta! The course is hilly, with some wicked blind shots, especially the teeshot on the tenth. Some of the views are spectacular. The clubhoyse is old fashioned but very friendly, the proshop well stocked and reasonably priced, the food excellent. Definitely a course that has to go on your must play list.Reviewer Rating
