Massively disappointed with wasting £30 on a round here. 75% of the bunkers were GUR, tee boxes were bare and brown. The course was utterly uninspiring and the holes lacked any shape or character. Very bare and devoid of any real challenge other than the greens or the rough just off the fairways. You could spend minutes looking for a ball 2 feet off the fairway in the light rough that balls hide underneath. Overall I'd say Rookwood is 10x the course, in far better condition and far more inviting. Hotel prices at the bar don't help the cause either!

Mid Sussex in the wet

Played here recently on a wet day and was slightly disappointed with the course conditions especially as the assistant pro said before we started that it was in "great" condition??
Greens were really good but the tee boxes were pretty shocking.
Even with a light drizzle (all day) the fairways were sodden and clearly a lack of basic drainage.
Clubhouse good but round not worth £35..

A nice course with some lovely holes, just pleased it is open this time of year with the rain we've had. Course is in pretty good condition considering.

Just a shame the bar is closed when you get off the golf course about 17:00

Missed Opportunity

This course is always in reasonably good condition, I wouldn't say it's excellent but for me they don't seem to have really done any work during the lockdown period so it's no different to any other time which a lot of courses have chosen to adapt/repair etc and benefitted from that, Mid Sussex is popular and you have to wonder if that's more to do with the decline in courses in the local area than the club itself.

The practice facilities look very good although we didn't get to use as they were closed for the afternoon so they could cut the grass.... the next day! Not the end of the world but we turned up with enough time to have some lunch and a bit of a practice so a bit of a let down but not a deal breaker in the future.

Played Mid Sussex several times, always welcoming. The course can be quite challenging with some greens well protected by bunkers. The condition of the course was well groomed, but the normally good condition of the greens, was unfortunately poor. Quite scabby which affected the roll of the ball.

Fair course with a few interesting holes. Plain parkland course in general. We played following the club championship so against tough pin placements which was a nice additional challenge. Given the bad weather course played well.

nice course at the foot of the downs.
not the most difficult test of ability as the yardage indicates.
strong par 4s at 2 and 17 however, and one of the best par 5s at 14 you will hope to play.
the new owners have clearly invested time and money into the place, but the trouble with drainage still appears to exist.
the bunkers are not in play (water logged) for probably 3 months of the year.
the sort of club i would consider joining if it werent for the wet and the price.

Always enjoy playing here, not majorly challenging but plays well for all abilities. Greens are normally in good condition, with interesting undulations, some of which are in the "Salmon Rushty" bracket (difficult read). Friendly, welcoming staff in the club house.

Although a fairly young course being flat and relatively wide fairways the condition of recent months has been excellent.
The quality of the bunkers has been the main concern and work is being undertaken to ensure this situation is addressed.
The greens are improving each season and re at present the best they have been for some time.

Having just stepped off the course I can say that the layout, variation of holes and surroundings are excellent, however the greens do let the course down, the were very slow and putts don't always run true. All the bunkers were out of play due to the wet weather we have had recently. I am going to give the greens the benefit of doubt due to the weather also and try again when the ground's a bit dryer to see if my opinion changes.
