Lovely views, nice course layout
Didn't lose or find a ball - wide fairways allow for the erant shot. The greens were in very good condition. The same couldn't be said of the tees and certainly the bunkers, where we agreed to play from behind such was the mess. But overall a nice course with some beautiful views of the castle and surrounding area.

Hidden Gem
Ok, it is a municipal course but it is in a beautiful setting with terrific views. This is a place of peace and tranquility. Well ,getting there through the single track back roads can put people off but it is worth the visit (seniors over 60 discounts). The course is well looked after but the greens can let it down by being on the slow side and a bit patchy. It is difficult to pick a favourite hole as the course sits in the valleys and needs precision. Don't forget to pop into the clubhouse - it is not grand by any means but great service and good choice of food and beers at not rip off prices. Well worth taking the time to visit(Round played: Aug 2021 - Score: 84 Handicap: 13)

great course
An excellent course for the cost. It would be nice if they had some 150 yard markers and the greens could do with a little TLCReviewer Rating

Good Course
I only played the nine hole this time.. the course was ok but could do with a bit of TLC.. but even so great little practice round to shed some of that rust.. the 18 hole looks in great condition and I?ll be back to play that soon. The golf shop was empty maybe they are having a refit soon, but nothing for sale.

Stunning views
Good course in reasonable condition with stunning views of the surrounding countryside. Greens in very good condition, albeit a little slow. The grass on the fairways was a little long In places, but nevertheless satisfactory. We did not play out of bunkers as GUR due to Covid. Tee boxes showing signs of wear.Reviewer Rating

Lovely premier league countryside views and well worth travelling a distance to play as a one off. Very difficult to find and could have closed if it was a private course.
Ground should be OK to play most of the year. The strangest thing though is the price for a council offshoot course. It should be about £ 15.00 max full price and £10.00 off peak yet they charge considerably more.

Course in good condition, and greens played well.
Not too hard, not too easy, and a few challenging holes where YOU have to think, concentrate and be wise.
Quite a few wide fairways to help high handicappers. Rough not too deep.
A couple of fairways have alot of divots and need work.
All in all a good 4 hours of golf.
Biggest surprise is that this is council owned.

Great value for the price
Given the recent amount of rain the course played really well. The most surprising thing was the condition of the bunkers - full of decent sand.Reviewer Rating

Holes 4, 8, 11, 12, 15 are great tests of strategy.
Generally in good condition, some greens and tee boxes (especially 17 & 18) could do with some TLC.
Played on a Thursday, course was nearly empty.

Decent parkland condition course across valley
The course was in a decent condition, bunkers and fairways were great but let down by half a dozen poor greens and the rest were average. Pretty course with generous fairways and played early so pace was good.Reviewer Rating

Cheap but as a previous player sadi, greens are awful. Holed out but grass rings all over and very bumpy. Tees bare and lots of tee ends around. Ground really hard. Very difficult to gage what ball will do on approach and on greensReviewer Rating

What a difference a year makes
At the beginning of 2024 the course was about to close. We went for a final game and the course was very muddy but the greens were good. In April the course was saved. We played in June and the course was getting better with defined lines for fairways. So we come back in Dec after lots of rain but the mud isn't there. Certainly no standing water but the greens, need a cut, and rolling. However, on the whole, the course is playable.Reviewer Rating
