The course has improved greatly under the new ownership, too many par 3's (6), but still some very small greens especially the 10th, the 17th at Sawgrass is easier. Local course convenient for quick round

Ok course for beginners, but greens far too hard to pitch onto and a very open course in general.

I can only comment on the smaller 9 hole course.
I started out playing my first rounds of golf on the 9 hole 'academy' course at Horton. The holes are decent enough for beginers only or to warm up before playing the 18 hole course. The greens are usually in great condition but it is very much tee-bit of fairway- green. It isn't very challenging at all too be honest.
The club has recently introduced "foot golf' which in my opinion is a crap idea! I played here about a month ago and the ground around the tee and hole for the foot golfers was boggy and horrible. There were also big chunks taken out of some of the greens where the foot golfers had obviously taken shots off the green. No one was around to police the foot golfers and they where
Just running amuck around the course with no respect for golfers at all. Like
I said it is generally in good condition but every hole feels the same and there isn't really anything challenging. Ideal to
Learn how to swing a club but once you have learned that go elsewhere like Moore place in Esher or Sandown.

the course played quite short for my game. Good practice course for me wedge game. Greens were grainy and slow due to application of fertilizer.

The greens were very very very poor, which should have been informed before we played. The rest of course was not bad condition, a few of the fairways were like being in the rough! Def not worth the £27 per round. The facilities were good. When they sort the course out it will be a nice place to play.

Played this course last weekend, weather was appalling so difficult to determine whether the course is poor or it was poor because of the conditions.
Some of the holes felt like it was kind of like a field in the middle of a tee box and a green though!
Some of the holes are good fun, couple of good water features and the greens were in good condition.
All in all - there are better courses in the region so I probably won't be playing there again.
Also, the course is seriously confusing, you are never entirely sure where the next tee box is!

Nothing to excite on this course, the 10th to an island green is a nice hole and the two others over the water add interest but the 11 or 12 holes in the back two fields are quite boring, just going up and down. Short at 5600 off the yellows. Not a great challenge. Paid £22 on a weekday afternoon, certainly better courses in the area for your money.

Doesn't have much of a feel good factor although greens are good and the second nine is tidier than the first nine. If you are a proper golfer give it a miss.
