Testing course in good condition

Played Horton Park Millenium course for the first time and was impressed. We were greeted by a staff member in the clubhouse who explained how the GPS system on the buggy works - this shows on a screen inside the buggy how to find the next tee which is useful as otherwise the course layout gets a bit confusing. The screen also shows a map of each hole and current yardage to the front and back of the green from any point on the hole. The course conditions were generally good and the course requires a lot of thought. The fairways are tight with trees located in such a position that a slightly off line tee shot will block out the approach shot to the green. Stand out holes are the island par 3 10th and the long uphill par 3 9th and 18th, both of which require drives over the lake. I’ll definitely be back soon to see if I can improve on my score!

Had an excellent first time at the 18 hole on Horton Park. The marshals were very helpful and accommodating. They checked up on us a few times on the course advising us on the best route around, how to use the golf buggy's and also how to get refreshments whilst playing which we were very impressed with. As first timers on an 18 hole we were a bit slow and despite an impatient group behind us, we had an excellent time and cant wait to return and cant recommend it highly enough!

The club let’s itself down badly with a lack of on course etiquette

The course itself is well maintained & a real challenge for a high handicapper. However on more than one occasion the whole experience has been spoiled by the complete lack of golfing etiquette that is evident here. First & foremost an entire lack of any form of dress code - Football shirts & jeans on show is not going to make regular players want to come back.

The pace of play particularly today was awful with a four ball heading out in front of us that had clearly never played properly before. They whizzed in front of other people teeing off without a thought or care & at no time offered to let us play through. As a result the front nine took 2 3/4 hours before, thankfully, they went off for some refreshments and we skipped ahead.

There is never any sign of anyone on course & frankly at £33 per person this offers far less value for money than somewhere like the Oaks which doesn’t appear to suffer from the same problems. A little bit of pride needs to be taken by the people that run this place if they want actual golfers to continue turning up rather than non players in jeans looking for an afternoon hack around.

Horton Park - An enjoyable course and a good putting test

First time playing Horton Park and first impressions are always good. A nice modern clubhouse and pro-shop. A driving range and a putting green that gives you a clue on how the greens are out on the course. Horton Park may not be a long course, but its a real test. There's a lot of holes that force you to leave the driver in the bag, with some very narrow fairways, especially when the yardage is only 460 yards for a par-5.The holes around the turn, the 9th and 10th over the pond are a good test, but the real quality at Horton Park are the greens, they are excellent. Quick and small and if you're not in the right place on them, you will leave some of the trickiest putts you will face all year. I'll be back to Horton Park as it's a very nice course that I thoroughly enjoyed playing. Give it a go, you won't be disappointed.

Golf comp

Windy but sunny day greens were very fast but true fairways were very dry so we had a better run on our drives the 10th over 5he water is a very good hole with the tree being there to trap you.

Richard

We played the millennium course Saturday 14/04/2018 and never again. Whilst the staff are really helpful the pace of play was terrible. It took about five and a half hours all because of a four ball in front who didn’t have a clue. Who let them out in track bottoms and trainers?? Other groups were skipping holes just to get by them. You need a marshal on the course to keep groups moving.
