High Elms winter

All winter tee mats, and all in poor condition. Greens poor. Bunkers hard and flooded. Not good value.

Worst greens around !!

This course used to be one of the best pay and play around.
Ever since MyTime Active took over its slowly gone downhill.
The greens are awful. Full of black disease patches and bumpy.
Fairways on 10th and 12th full of wormcasts so you can hardly
find a decent spot to hit the ball.
They refuse to spend money and uplift this once lovely course.
Members pay £1080 a year. What do they do with it?
Come on. A well maintained course attracts more people !!

Worth a visit

High Elms track is very challenging with lots of character especially the par 4's.
The uphill 13th par 3 is a very demanding hole.
With more care from the greens staff this could be a lovely pay and play course.
Greens were quite scarred and bumpy due to winter conditions.

not a good course

cut grass is not collected from the fairways. Poor conditions on the fair ways. not properly maintained
Greens ar not compareable with other similar courses

Could be a nice course

The greens after a severely wet and cold winter plus having to cope with the Covid lockdown for 3 months, has wrecked havoc on the greens and bunkers! The greens should have been left to grow more, as they are now very bald, bumpy and splotchy. The ball can't hold it's line.
The sloping greens are treacherous!

This course is usually in very good condition, but first game back after lockdown I was so disappointed. The greens were the worst I have seen them for a long time, the ball just bobbled all over the place and made it a lottery whether a put went in or not, the fairways weren't much better, playing there again today and hoping for vast improvement.

High Elms

After 10 weeks of no use, it's surprisingly poor condition. Gashes & bare patches on some greens was disappointing. But it's cheap and ideal for a twiight round.

Very wet and muddy

ouch that was a painful round and very muddy. Should the course be opened? Well the greens were ok if not a bit spongy in places, especially the plateau greens. But fairways were suffering. I am sure after the rains they will get back to "normal" (spoke to soon - Covid)

tricky greens, unfair pin positions!

This course has some lovely par 4 holes. Unfortunately, the powers that be, being the green keepers keep putting the pin positions at the top of very slopey greens! The course could be really nice if it weren't for the shaved fast greens!

Grass needs cutting

First time played here for a couple of years and is now much harder than I remember it. Rough has been allowed to grow too long and too close to fairway/greens so is too punitive especially when fairways are hard, bare and slopey. Greens slow, could do with more grass cutting all round.

Interesting Layout

High Elms was an interesting course with a variety of difficulty holes. The condition being winter made the course quite muddy underfoot. The only hole which I lost a ball was on the blind tee shot 2nd hole.
There was no indication as to which direction to hit, being without a map or a direction post made it very confusing. The greens were quite ripply and/or icy. I would like to play again in the Spring when I could tee off from the regular tees.
