Great layout, lovely views and a lovely variety of holes. Some short par 4s where big hitters may be able to have a go for the green in one. The greens wernt amazing but at this of year you cant expect much more. Still very fast in places.
The 150 yard par 3 over water in front of the spike bar is a great finishing hole....especially if you stiff your tee shot to 2 feet in front of a load of people.
Would recommend.

The course is in good condition and with 27 holes offers plenty of variety. The course is a little short, but the small greens with plenty of undulation make up for the length. Would recommend a buggy as there are lots of ups and downs.

Not enjoyable
Two of us played Hellidon Lakes today, I’d read several reviews which were mixed so went there with an open mind.Didn’t start well, as I read online that it had a driving range, we both like to warm up on the range so pick courses because of this. Disappointed when we arrived to be told that they don’t have any balls for the range as they’ve ran out…..WTF.
Pro shop was poor, with very little to offer.
The course it’s self in our opinion was poorly maintained. Dried clumps of grass everywhere, both on the fairways and rough. Clearly not cut regularly so is left to grow to long. Pin positions on the greens were poor and not enjoyable.
Sadly we will not return to this course.
These opinions are mine and some will not agree but I personally doing think it was worth the money.

Very enjoyable weekend
Stayed on a one-night two round deal Sept 2022. The hotel is clean and the majority of rooms have been renovated with new carpets etc. Can't fault cleanliness or comfort. Dinner and breakfast were very good and the snack provided after our 2nd round was excellent. The course (Hellidon/Lakes) is on the challenging side but not unplayable for a 20 handicapper. Greens and bunkers were well maintained (some tee boxes could do with levelling) and everyone in the Society said they would return. Recommended.Reviewer Rating

Great layout, very poor condition
Played in August 2021. Very hilly course, but walkable (electric trolley advised). Some interesting holes. Unfortunately the greens were in very poor condition, with bare patches, variable speed and bumpy (it can't be blamed on recent weather as the Staverton Golf Club nearby is in very good condition. Sadly it looks as though little money has been spent on upkeep. On the plus side, the hotel is quite good. There are a few courses in the vicinity, I would recommend trying them instead of Hellidon.Reviewer Rating

Hard work but testing golf
Very very hilly course made this a real mission the walk around let alone play.The course was good and done real testing holes.
The greens are a little slow and the rough off the fairway was tough going.

Well worth it
Great for a golf weekend away with the lads. The food and hospitality was excellent of all the places we have stayed and played this was by far the best with respect to the food. The course was in great condition for October, the greens were extremely tricky but in very good condition. Pity about the driving range being closed due to covid but that is no ones fault(Round played: Oct 2020 - Score: 91 Handicap: 17.4)

I play at Hellidon a few times each year and it was in its worst condition I have seen. We couldn\'t play the Hellidon loop for maintenance reasons and when we saw the state of the greens, we could only assume they were even worse than on the other two loops. Many of the greens we played had large bare patches, making putting a lottery. The greenkeepers had left a lot of grass on them understandably, but this meant they were much slower than on other courses.\\I had never played the Valley course so that was an interesting experience, but the lack of signs as to where the next tee was, or maps of the holes was very confusing. Other reviewers have made the same comment, so they need to sort it out. \\In its current condition, £25 or £17.50 does not represent fair value for money.

Course is always very good but greens really need to be addressed as very patchy. You could possibly give a bit of lee way due to the hot weather earlier in the year but 4 or 5 greens were the poorest I’ve seen for a long time

Uncrowded, interesting, varied holes
Easy to book and excellent value with a choice of three combinations of 9 holes. Very quiet on a sunny Thursday morning in August.The water comes into play on a number of holes and this together with an undulating course and sloping fairways make it quite a challenge for high handicap golfers.
Do not forget that you can use the hotels facilities including the bar with outside seating.

Never played here before, it was a good test off the whites and a good long walk. Overall the course was in good condition, however I think will be very heavy going after prolonged periods of rain. Some really lovely views,

Stinking hot day (28degC) for the annual PGM gold day attended by over 20 players in 4-ball. Course was very demanding on your calves as pretty much not a flat hole played on. Greens were bone dry and difficult to land on.

One of my favourite local courses where each hole is completely different and challenging. Course management very important. View are stunning across the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire countryside. Excellent finishing par 3 hole too.

Hellidon 9 very challenging, great condition and testing greens. Valley 9 (green) similarly well kept, challenging but more forgiving than the Hellidon 9 (red). The Valley 9 could be better signposted and course distance markers more accurate and consistent. However, really good day.

Although i like this course, it is an exhausting walk espically the back 9, on this occasion the greens were very unevenly cut, which made it difficult to get the hang of them as some were slow

Played this course twice in the last month and have loved it both times the staff are friendly and are willing to help. I have only played the lakes-valley circuit which has a variety of holes from short over water par 3s to 90 degree dog leg par 4s. It's a course where a huge drive might not get you the lowest score and taking a sensible lay up is a must. This is a challenging but very enjoyable course would deffinately recommend a visit.

played the hellidon lakes course, was in very nice condition greens were very tricky and slick. Rough was a little long in areas but green staff were out on the mowers cutting. Very welcoming friendly staff, with a nice relaxing sports bar to have a drink in over looking the signature 18th hole.

Played here a few times and course and greens are in pretty good condition considering the time of year and snowy weather conditions the course has had to endure. Pro shop has now moved, making checking in far more efficient and is nicely stocked,it also now offers the facility of coffee/hot choc half way around.

Awful golf course
Took 6 hours to play the worst golf course I’ve ever played. Management didn’t care about pace of play. Most of the greens are situated at the top or bottom of steep hills and the greens just sit on the slopes .. very tough to hit an iron to statin a green, then hard to putt on them to follow. Tough short course
Decent course. Played lakes twice. Shorter than most courses but don’t be fooled. Greens can be very tough. Enjoyable course. Most golfers won’t play to handicap here. Food good fir this type of set up. Also bowling great. No driving range is a let down.Reviewer Rating

1 night 2 rounds 9 Golfers
The course had a good layout,great views,there wasn't a 2nd cut of fairway it was a fairway then 5-6 inches of rough, impossible to find your ball and to make it worse the cuttings weren't collected so made it even harder,you were punished by putting a ball 2 yards off the fairway as you couldn't find it.Greens didn't run true, we didn't play the 2nd day just wasn't worth it.we are all members and society players, everyone said how badly maintained it was, even a greenkeeper said members have asked for there money back.Hotel and food/beer very good,Just don't play golf there.
