What the club says: Hainault Golf Course actually consists of two 18 hole courses, both are spectacular.
The Upper Course
This course hugs the hillside closest to the country park. The course has tighter fairways and is more hilly than the lower course. Although it is shorter and has a par 70, the upper course is still a very good test and will punish the wayward golfer.
The Lower Course
This course hosted the 2003 Essex Amateur Championships final and was the first pay and play golf course to be awarded such a prestigious accolade. The course is a par 72 and is a very good test of the long hitter, rewarding accurate long tee shots, but punishing poor course strategy, beware not to be tempted to mimic Tiger!

Good Design
Nice course very hilly, challenging. Lots of blind holes which annoys me.Main issue is poor standard of greens and fairways. Needs some TLC
Could be fantastic if tge greens were maintained

Bottom course
Played today and I don’t usually leave reviews but the course is actually in appalling condition, the tee boxes were very patchy, the fairways were dry as a bone and worst of all the greens were diabolical with hardly any grass on them and looked like they were diseased and unwatered yet there was a mains leak next to the practice putting green so if you’re thinking of playing golf here don’t waste your money and nothing was mentioned about the condition in the pro shop when they took our money, disgusting.Reviewer Rating

Nice course
Due to the extreme heat, the fairways are hard and bounces can cause problems. The greens were in good condition, with the green keepers continually working on them. We used the Cafe, "Tad in the hole". The food was excellent, from a full English breakfast, to a full Indian menu, definitely will recommend.Reviewer Rating

Muddy
Played the upper course for the first time in a few years and while it remains a great layout with some great holes It is becoming a mud bath in places already simply because of the popularity of buggies and the fact that they are allowed in the fairways and around the greens .Reviewer Rating

The management have just stated that from the1st of July no electric Trolleys or pull trolleys on the old course upper before 11 am golf buggies or walking only seems really business decision as so many people use electric Trolleys is the management stupid or do they want to get rid of the customers ? As Alan Sugar would say Mr Nam you're FiredReviewer Rating

Excellent Course
What a fantastic course, greens are in perfect condition. Although they are very busy all week they manage to stick to allocated tee times. They have very lovely staff working in the shop and are always available to helping any customer needs. Any issues that may occur on the course, the staff are very good when handling any situations that may happen on the course. For example people playing 5/6 balls.Reviewer Rating

Great track spoilt by non golfing regular societies.
If you don’t mind being behind a society that has no idea of etiquette or the rules of golf crack on. 5 hour rounds behind 5/6 ball’s playing from 2 or 3 sets of clubs and they get away with it and are never challenged by the management. Most days around 10ish so stay away around this time or after????Reviewer Rating

Very good condition
It's been about a year since I last played Hainault. It can get bone dry in summer and very muddy in winter, but it was in excellent condition on September 18th. We really enjoyed our game, and it's great value (especially for the over-60s).Reviewer Rating
