Best courses in the region

The improvements made in the last two years at the Gog Magog golf club are substantial, returning the Old course to an open downland venue, excellent for running golf where players can enjoy the challenges of all types of shot rather than always reaching for the lob wedge and pitching on the green.
Playing the course just before the famous national amateur Lagonda trophy it was in excellent condition with the greens running smooth and fast. The short holes are the pick on this course and the unusual greens at the 8th and 11th make for an interesting challenge. Since the massive clearance program that removed most of the hawthorn that chocked parts of the course the views are significantly improved as well as the health of the course caused by the improved airflow. The best comes over the closing stretch with the signature 16th offering the best vista and a chance for long hitters to show their prowess. When you reach the clubhouse don’t forget to look at the Lagonda winners board in the dining room and compare your score with previous winners and world number ones Luke Donald and Lee Westwood. Needless to say ....they beat me, but I enjoyed a great test of golf.

Played the Old Course on a beautifal day in early July, and believe this is the best course in the area. The course was in excellent condition, with good fairways and perfect greens. A good variation of holes, with both long and short par fours, and reacheable par fives. Holes 16 and 18 stand out. Lay up short of the bunkers on 16 unless you can carry your drive 280 yards. Missed more yardage markers, as the 150 markers are the only ones. The service in the proshop was excellent, however be prepared to bring nice clothing/shoes to enter the restaurant, otherwise you won't get in. Great pratice facilities, with grass tee range, pitching/chipping green and a putting green. Recommended course!

The weather was against us really, it was windy and on quite a long course, that made it difficult on a cold April day. I'm pretty sure I would like this course a lot on a warm Summer day.

The greens were running well, and the sand in the bunkers was about perfect if a little shallower than needed on some of the deeper ones.

We took a party of 8 Juniors with 4 adults, and the Club looked after us very well, both in terms of booking, setting aside tee times and the food they provided for us.

Very impressed - will have to go back and play the other course.

Excellent condition great course

As usual in excellent condition, greens were quick and true. Rough is high and wispy if you get too far off the fairway but it was good

Wandlebury Course

Really enjoyed the layout and the condition was great. Its clearly (in my opinion) the '2nd' course with the Old being the main course.
Probably slightly easier than the Old course in the sense the fairways are a bit wider and not as long.
Great course and drains well.
Give it a go.

The Golf Traveller

Played both courses in a day and was amazed by the condition for the time of year. While other courses are closed this venue has to be one of the best locations for winter golf in the country, no mud, great turf, and surprisingly quick greens. The improvements they are making to the practice facilities that are already as good as I have seen will make this an even better winter destination. The value for money of their winter deals is fantastic with a very friendly welcome and high quality foo, I can't wait for a game in the summer when I expect the greens will be even quicker.

Lovely course

Played the Wanderley, supposed to be their second course. Really nice course. Plenty of room, but enough hazards to catch the unwary / sloppy. Greens in really good condition considering the weather. Some fabulous views when you reach the top.
Hoping to go back and play the Old Course in 2018.
Excellent service in the clubhouse. Extensive practice facilities.
