Shocking greens

Unfortunately the greens were the worst I have ever played on, I think until they can get water from somewhere the green fees should be reduced. Won't be going back for quite a while ????

Shocking greens

Have played here a good few times over the years. Nice course but, whoaa these were the worst greens I've ever seen!! What's going on? Played 21st May after lockdown, should be getting decent by now, short of rain yes but, they were a disgrace and we won't be returning!! Shame...

Poor

The fairways were not too bad but the greens were shocking, they were like putting on a very dry 4th day test wicket with cracks everywhere.

Poor condition

Course was in quite poor condition. What's even more disappointing is that after consulting Golf Shake after making the initial booking I called the Pro Shop back the day before to check the course was fully open with 18 greens which he said was the case. On the day we had 2 temps which we weren't told about before play and all but 2 tees were well forward which were patches of mud. Patchy and grassy greens, some soaked in parts and like others have said buggies shouldn't be allowed out so parts of the course are battered. You can appreciate they are working on the course but they should let you know beforehand what's going on so you know going in and if anything they should be limiting the numbers to get it back into some decent shape for the summer. I definitely won't return this year and find myself hard pressed to see myself playing here in the future. Played here a handful of times and there's a few decent holes on the course but a 4 hour and 20 minute round in a 3 ball is the icing on the cake.

Poor Condition

After a recent layout change and very wet weather this course is now a shadow of the course it once was.

Chernoyl

Like the Chernobyl of golf, abandoned buggies, broken signs, mud everywhere, sloping tee boxes clearly positioned by a none golfer, bunkers like concrete, one green was like a swamp and had half of it OOB, huge roped off no go areas. Needs to shut for a few weeks to sort it out, keep taking peoples money but not reinvesting it, its like the place has been abandoned but you can still sneak in and use it. On the plus side I did get a good bacon toastie but now have radioactive poisoning.

Such a shame

Played on Sep 4th 2019. Had a chat with the pro before we went out who told me the club was going through a huge transition, new clubhouse, green keeping staff etc and that the course was probably 6/10 at the moment. Well I only wish he was my old schoolteacher marking my work coz I’d have got 10/10 every time if he felt the course was a 6. Firstly this is a really well laid out course with some good holes and a fair test of golf. Unfortunately the course condition is shocking. Every bunker should be GUR, there are no rakes but that’s probably because there is no sand to rake. The greens are average at best and very slow. To cap it all the clubhouse was offering a bare minimum of food and my mate had an anaemic chip butty. They should not be taking money off paying customers at the moment. I look forward to going back after this transition phase.

Essentially setting fire to your green fee...AVOID

Our golf society has played this course for the past few years. It has been affordable and a decent visit in years gone by...

We played there again yesterday, it has been neglected and has the worst greens I have ever seen on a non municipal golf course. Balls were being lost 10 yards off the fairway with rough which wouldn't be as long to penalise professionals, again looking like it had been left for weeks.

The fact that once I booked for a group of friends last year, I seem to be harrassed with text messages with special offers every weekend, something i'd like to stop but there is no means of texting 'stop' back to them. Among these offers, they force buggies down golfers throats at an affordable rate, at the expense of the golf course and wreckless drivers of these buggies in winter months. They allow buggies all year round, meaning the course takes a beating and is in a right state for the summer months.

In summary...

Greens, weren't puttable, you had to draw an imaginary 2 foot circle around any hole to have any chance of bobbling it in. I've seen better temporary greens at other clubs in a frosty December in the middle of a fairway.

Fairways, decent enough, but bare in many places (buggies not sticking to a path when they are in operation 12 months of the year may contribute to this?

Rough, not cut. Balls being lost 10 foot into the rough from the fairway.

Breakfast... Sausage on toast (one sausage cut in half on each side of the toast. Not worth the money. Pint of coke, £3.25?

My advice - Don't listen to any members who speak well of the course in it's current state and keep your money and look on Golfshake or TripAdvisor for an alternative.

Pity, with ANY care, it'd be a great course.

Don't fund this golf course which doesn't seem to care about you, the golfer!

Away day at Frodsham

A very disappointing day at Frodsham. I arranged an awy day for 18 of us. The deal was excellent, but the course was scruffy and in need of a lot of attention. We had to have preferred lies in the bunkers owing to the weeds growing in them. Not one of us would go back. Which is a shame. Seriously I have played better municipal courses.

It’s all gone wrong

One of my favourite courses in the region but has now paid the price for years of over use. Greens tees & rough have gone to pot and need a good 8 weeks with the doors closed to recover. Has always been a busy course thanks to the condition and value but no longer worth the trip. Hope it recovers.

Overplayed, Disappointed.

Played this course over the years many times. What has gone wrong. Tees, greens, fringes in a bad way. Buggie tyre tracks all over the fairways. Seems they think they are on a motocross track. Hope they sort the course as it was once a good day out with a good challenge to your game. Big challenge ahead for the green staff.

Greens are in poor order, & generally the course needs some TLC
I suspect a lack of maintenance is to blame
