What the club says: Delamere Forest Golf Club was founded in 1910 and designed by the renowned architect Herbert Fowler. The Club is widely regarded as one of the best heathland golf courses in England. Situated in the heart of rural Cheshire but with easy access, Delamere is often described as a ‘hidden gem’. Its rolling fairways are interspersed with heather and gorse, crowned by fast, subtle greens which are typical of Fowler’s early designs. As a result the course offers a fair but tough challenge to visitors and members alike.

Despite its name the course is a bit more open than I had expected and the view over the fairways and greens from the clubhouse is mouth-watering. Fabulous condition and a very varied lay out made this a really enjoyable experience. I'd play it again in a heartbeat.

Played Delamere Forest a couple of weeks ago. The course is exceptional in every way. It is great to look at, wonderfully maintained and a very fair challenge.

Wonderful course

Played for the first time & totally understand the deserved plaudits the course receives. Was expecting more trees (based on the name) yet was delighted by such a well designed, challenging and undulating course with exceptional bunkering. Greens were excellent as was the welcome, service in the club house and overall experience. Would highly recommend.

A Must Play

Played for the first time last week & will definitely be back if I get the chance. The course was in fantastic condition with plenty of unique holes to test your skill, fortunately the rough had been cut back or it might have been very tough. Fairways excellent, greens very true & generally beautifully manicured, nothing not too like about this wonderful course. A must play if you get the chance!

Played Delamere Forest GC for the first time last week, and WOW!! Absolutely outstanding, a lot of work has gone on over the winter, looks like a lot of gorse removal, I think? New design on the 15th looks amazing! Lovely open view and played like a links, fast, bouncy and a real challenge. The greens were a pleasure to putt on, great pace and silky smooth! If anyone is in the area I would recommend a visit, you won’t be disappointed. Back again in a couple of month and cannot wait.

Poor condition

Pretty disapointed with the quality of the course. Hole 15 and the 6th tee were out of play due to renovation. The bunker surrounds were very poor for such a renowned course.
The greens were very good, and some well designed holes. Overall i would give it a 7. Not a patch on Sherwood Forest

A disappointment

Played here on a blustery day following rain. Very excited to try a course with such a good pedigree but the experience was disappointing. The whole course seems to have been visited by a wrecking crew- large areas GUR and dug up and a temporary hole in play. No doubt significant improvements are underway but before we set up a day's play it would have been nice to have had some notice of the work! Good greens.

Rain

The weather in Manchester has been pretty wet recently (past few months)

The course was in very good condition, very few wet patches..

The course is undergoing maintenance on quite a few holes, so I’ll be returning to the course definitely later this year.

Well worth playing even in its current condition ????

Great conditioned course and due to the excellent drainage can be played all year round. My own opinion is that the greens are bordering on lunacy, the pin placements can be ridiculous to the point that if you don\\\\\\\'t hole your putt you could be off the green, that\\\\\\\'s not golf it\\\\\\\'s stupidity and it creates slow play. The rough in the summer gets far too severe as well. The selling point is the drainage but not the \\\\\\\'gem\\\\\\\' that other people have stated. Sorry but this is my view.

Start with the positives. Excellent course, fantastic layout, you have to think about each shot. Greens are perfect condition. What lets it down. Divots! Considering the price to play and the fact it's a members course the amount of divots that where not repaired was shocking. The flags were small, should have been bigger. Granted they want to keep the course as exclusive as possible, but it was over priced compared to like courses.
