Rude & Arrogant!

No problem with a thirty five minute wait today for a 13.20 tee time due to a Seniors Competition. I got a very nice friendly greeting and good service (including a later refund) in the clubhouse.

However, having arrived on the tee at the designated time, it was alarming to be so close to teeing off that I was actually into my pre-shot routine, before one of the Senior Members came rushing across to inform me that they had right of way here (though according to the clubhouse their last tee was booked for 13.05!).

As I walked off the tee (and indeed off the course never to return) it was interesting to hear from the same member that, ‘We are a four ball, so it’s going to be quite slow’… One wonders then why, I as a single handicap and single player a few seconds from teeing off, I might not have been allowed to play!

It’s unusual to see this level of entitlement and arrogance at a golf club nowadays, but sadly still not impossible...

Frustrating round of golf

Got stuck behind a FIVE ball yesterday. They shared clubs and one was wearing jeans. They were asked to split by another golfer to speed up the game but didn't. I mentioned it to a member of staff in the clubhouse, but he didn't seem bothered!!! We will not return to this golf course.

Very very poorly kept golf course. This was cheap and cheerful, as I paid £8.60 for nine holes, but probably wasn't worth a fiver. There was no fairway in sight at all, and the greens were average to poor, with the tees just markers in the miscellaneous rough that made up the rest of the course. I planned on playing 18 holes here but ended up coming off after nine.

The place is a waste of time it is badly run staff do not know what they are talking about No pro shop which they advertise. If you like playing golf a a farmers field that has just been ploughed then this is the place for you.

All in all a very disappointing course, greens in a very disappointing state don't think they had been mowed that particular morning which was a surprise for a Monday and it was a fairly decent day. Couldn't tell the difference between the fairways and semi rough and teen were quite untidy and generally not well kept. But what really topped my day off was the rudeness from one of the green staff, whistling at the top off his well his whistling voice and not stopping to let me play my shot when ever he drove past me on a blue tractor pulling some kind of mowing equipment, when I politely asked him t stop whilst i took my shot he simply yelled abuse at me which was very uncalled for, despite being shocked and upset i managed t keep my cool and completed my round. Surprising to say i will not be back to this course and i would strongly advice you not to either.

Improving Course

Played on Friday in a two ball. Pace of play good and course in a reasonable condition. Greens improving, but still not quite there - patchy and slow. Very limited food in clubhouse after round. There are cheaper rounds on better courses nearby.

All courses have their ups and downs, dependant on weather conditions, but at the present time Edwalton is on a down. The fairways aren\'t cut often enough,(main course),probably due to limited staffing , the teeing grounds are in a shocking state, and the greens, well, the car park has a better putting surface. The family management team has been asked leave, and hopefully, with a new manager things can only get better. The course still has its roaming dog walking annoyance.

As a pay and play 9 hole course it's not bad. I paid £5.40 for 9 holes and feel this is not bad value for money. The greens are extremely slow and uneven - as are the tee areas. The fairways look like they are left to grow as there's alot of cut grass left on the fairways which is the same as when I last played. The clubhouse is pretty bad and reminds me of a community centre but it serves its purpose. All in all it's not a bad course for the money paid but I would recommend booking online and wouldn't pay the green fee any other way as simply turning up incurs a higher charge.

Good for beginners or if you are on your own and need to practice at a cheap course. Greens are poor because its public but 9 holes plays long so you can test your long game out.
