Superb
A superb course & in great conditionSome great views, apparently! I played in misty rain, so you couldn't even see Darwen Tower!! A fantastic challenge with some really interesting holes

Tough track but worth it.
Played in an open event here. lovely but tough course. nice and open course with next to no bunkers. greens were exceptional even after days of constant rain. tough back 9 as mostly all uphill. electric trolley is recommended. nice food too.(Round played: Jul 2017 - Score: 93 Handicap: 15.7)

Great course with scenic views over the tower, Pendleton Hill and the coast - bit hilly in parts but worth it. Couple of silly holes spoilt my round but will play it again.

As previously stated parts of the course can be physical especially the back 9 when you start to tire. Magnificent views at the top of the course all the way to Heysham.

DARWEN IS A VERY HILLY COURSE.
However, it is a very beautiful course.
The greens are superb. Very true and smooth and are a joy to play. The views out over the Lancashire hills are as good as any you will see in the UK and the course is rewarding if you manage it properly.
The front 9 are by fair easier than the back 9 - which, if you are having a bad day [or its windy] can punish you mentally and physically. A couple of holes are a real test of endurance and you should consider this if you are not as mobile as you once were. Its a test of fitness and stamina - but ultimately, the best courses often are.
Highly recommended.

Nice course worth playing
Second time playing Darwen, this time in one of their open events. Friendly welcome in clubhouse & pro shop. Small putting green outside clubhouse. Course in good condition, greens a little slow but it is open to elements so would be very tricky if greens were quicker. Good variety of holes, nice par 3s especially 16th "postage stamp" where you could hit anything from 9 iron to rescue depending on wind direction/speed. Not for faint hearted as a few hills to negotiate but worth it for the views.Reviewer Rating

These will only be better come the summer months it will be one hell of a challenge on dry greens.
Fairways just as good as the greens.
We never used the facilities hence no score and reflect any other reason than that course 12 out of 10.
