What the club says: The Club was formed in October 1891. Pleasington is without doubt one of the best tests of golf in the North-West of England, with a superb layout, being part heathland in character with some heather. This beautiful and picturesque golf course is within 2 miles of exit 3 of the M65 Motorway in Pleasington, a rural village area on the outskirts of Blackburn, with magnificent country views.

Spectacular

What a course. Every hole is a test and the views around each corner are breathtaking.
The par 3?s are exceptional. Never played it before but been on my radar for a couple of years. The Mill is a special hole. From the pro shop to the bar staff to the members we were chatting to in the bar- everyone made 11 of us very welcome. Been telling everyone about this place- can't wait to return. Soon!

Society Booking

Sandy Bunkers Golf Society played Pleasington Golf Club.
The course was in great condition , greens true , fairways like carpet .
Very interesting course and although busy there were no holdups.
Staff friendly and food excellent . Bit pricey but you get what you pay for.

Excellent Course

This is the best course I have played to date. It was in excellent condition and I thoroughly enjoyed my round. After the game we ate in the club house and the food was fantastic. Definitely worth a visit.

Great Course

Pleasington has been on my 'to play' list for a while now but I was slightly reluctant due to the, fairly, high price and negative reviews which I had read. However, I now regret not playing it sooner. The course is fantastic. The greens were immaculate, some of the scenery (especially on the front 9) was breathtaking and the layout provided a fun yet challenging test of golf. Other than the fact that I played the first 5 holes like someone who'd never swung a golf club before, I'm struggling to think of anything negative to say. I'll definitely play it again and, now I know the course somewhat, hopefully I'll play a little bit better. I highly recommend.

Excellent Course

Following a round at Pleasington Golf Club last week I thought it was only right to express my views on the golf course. Having not played it for a few years I was delighted with the changes the club are currently making over a certain period to change to look of the golf course. The course was in superb condition and my thanks go to the greenstaff for all their efforts in producing a beautiful golf course. I will certainly be returning in the future and will definitely be booking a society of my own to visit this great course. I recommend any keen golfer when in the area to book a round at Pleasington Golf Club, you will not be disappointed.

Hugely overrated

A tremendously average course. Nothing particularly special about the layout, or the condition, especially when considering the price. Also, the pace of play was abysmal, not a single four ball in sight and 4+ hours, shocking. The majority of the members seem to think they're better than everyone because of the "status" of the club, which for me it nowhere near deserves. I guarantee you could easily spend half as much and find a more enjoyable/better course to play.

Great Course & Clubhouse

I play here on a regular basis and the course always delivers! It's got the right blend of difficulty without being overly challenging and there is a real mixture of holes to keep it interesting. The course is always extremely well kept and has some spectacular scenery and views! The clubhouse is also very nice and offers a really good food menu!!!

Ticked off the 'to play list'

Pleasington has been on my 'to play list' for a while and this week I was lucky enough to play it. I waited to play here until they opened up the full 18 after carrying out some work on a few of their holes (7, 8 & 9 if I remember correctly) and I'm pleased I did as these were some of my favourite parts to the course. Can't wait to return, next time I'll be allowing for for a longer lunch in their very classy clubhouse.

Not convinced

Always referred to as one of the best courses in the North West, but for me it doesn't deserve the hype. Never had a decent welcome in the pro shop ; the course has some forgettable holes (3, 11 & 17 as examples) and it's over priced. Clubhouse great and the welcome in the bar has always been great, but the course just doesn't blow me away.

Played beginning of Sept in light rain after wet spell the week before.
Played from white tees, didn't go into clubhouse which looked nice from the outside. Course is not overly long of particularly difficult, its defence largely in narrowish fairways and the greens which are not small but were in good condition and I suspect are quite quick and tricky in the dry. Lots of changes in elevation on parts of the course which is set in great scenery. Be prepared for a number of blind tee shots (a pet peeve of mine) which are a pain on first time of playing, especially the par 5 7th where i hit a drive straight at the marker post and lost the ball when 2 it needed a hybrid. Fairways and bunkers all in good nick, rough lush but fine.
I'm a member elsewhere and enjoyed the round but I'd say 3 things about paying a green fee as a member, only one of which is about this club.
1. I was allowed to play from the white tees but asked to play the par 3s from the yellows when there seemed ti be no good reason for that. This can only be because they want to preserve the white tees for comps (uo yours, visitors)
2. Even though it's the going rate, £50 is still a lot for 4 hours of golf on a decent golf course. This isn't Pleasington's fault and they probably don't need the money as much as some but this will price out many.
3. The club has a blue tee set but I wasn't given the opportunity to play from it. As a cat 2 golfer I'm not going to chew the course up and in 2020 more clubs need to be providing all their tee sets for competent visitors. I know this isn't a popular view but this needs to change.

4/5. Enjoyed my day and the course which I'd happily play again. 1 point deducted for being made to play from yellow tees on the par 3s.

Nice course, great greens.

Visited Pleasington for the first time early Jan. Nice varied mix of holes and surprisingly undulated course. The greens were very good, the Par 3s deserve mention as they were all very good. Not the warmest of welcomes from the young lad in the pro shop who was more interested in playing games on his phone than welcoming visitors!
