Good condition

After just moving from winter golf Darwen Golf Club was in lovely condition. After the harsh winter the only slight problem was the green being different speeds. Some were quicker than others but all the greens were true, even and in good condition and am sure they will be fast and true in the next few weeks.

The rest of the course was excellent. Well done to the green keepers.

Played this in a monsoon. Course in very good condition but beware in ant inclement weather it can become a bit of a beast.

Cracker

Darwen is a cracking course, its undulations & slopes make it a real test of golf.
There are holes where you can open the shoulders, but equally there are clever holes like the 4th, 5th & 6th where driver may not be the best choice.
The par 3 16th is a stunner.
The greens are in superb condition, the members & the pro all friendly.
Top this off with great views of Darwen Tower & the surrounding area, what's not to like.

Good course, in good condition. Only downside was that it is very hilly and requires a buggy

Enjoyed the round at Darwen GC

First time at Darwen and I was pleasantly surprised. The cost was cheap and the course in excellent condition. The fairways and greens were well cared for and manicured. The greens were a good speed. There are a number of interesting and challenging holes. Although the course is a hilly it's not as severe or tiring as many. I highly recommend you visit this course.

Superb

A superb course & in great condition
Some great views, apparently! I played in misty rain, so you couldn't even see Darwen Tower!! A fantastic challenge with some really interesting holes

Tough track but worth it.

Played in an open event here. lovely but tough course. nice and open course with next to no bunkers. greens were exceptional even after days of constant rain. tough back 9 as mostly all uphill. electric trolley is recommended. nice food too.

Only 9 holes were open due to the weather. The course has wide fairways and the greens are in really good condition. The course is quite steep in places which highlighted how unfit I am (my fault, not the course). I had a very enjoyable time there and will most certainly be going back when I can tackle all 18 holes. Well worth a visit.

Played this course for first time after reading and hearing mixed reviews so I thought I would give it a go and make up my own mind. Friendly welcome in club shop. Course in reasonable condition for beginning of November, greens a bit woolly and slow but had just been scarified and top dressed. Quite hilly in places especially back 9. Some good holes though like the 5th

Great course with scenic views over the tower, Pendleton Hill and the coast - bit hilly in parts but worth it. Couple of silly holes spoilt my round but will play it again.

A course with real character - you will not be disappointed. Front nine provides some lovely parkland golf with the back nine presenting true moorland golf with a bracing walk on two holes thrown in! Lovely scenery. Certainly a game of two halves, especially if the wind is blowing. Friendly and welcoming members.

Quite easily one of the highest courses I`ve played. Tricky course especially with the wind blowing, difficult to hit fairways as they always roll away. Greens in fantastic condition.Very good test for any level of golfer.

Clubhouse & locker room recently refurbished, extremely friendly folk & a great course in superb condition. Fairways in great condition & the greens have gentle slopes & borrows that can be challenging, great fun.
As previously stated parts of the course can be physical especially the back 9 when you start to tire. Magnificent views at the top of the course all the way to Heysham.

I think most people have now established that Darwen is a very hilly course. If not....

DARWEN IS A VERY HILLY COURSE.

However, it is a very beautiful course.

The greens are superb. Very true and smooth and are a joy to play. The views out over the Lancashire hills are as good as any you will see in the UK and the course is rewarding if you manage it properly.

The front 9 are by fair easier than the back 9 - which, if you are having a bad day [or its windy] can punish you mentally and physically. A couple of holes are a real test of endurance and you should consider this if you are not as mobile as you once were. Its a test of fitness and stamina - but ultimately, the best courses often are.

Highly recommended.
