A course with real character - you will not be disappointed. Front nine provides some lovely parkland golf with the back nine presenting true moorland golf with a bracing walk on two holes thrown in! Lovely scenery. Certainly a game of two halves, especially if the wind is blowing. Friendly and welcoming members.

Quite easily one of the highest courses I`ve played. Tricky course especially with the wind blowing, difficult to hit fairways as they always roll away. Greens in fantastic condition.Very good test for any level of golfer.

Clubhouse & locker room recently refurbished, extremely friendly folk & a great course in superb condition. Fairways in great condition & the greens have gentle slopes & borrows that can be challenging, great fun.
As previously stated parts of the course can be physical especially the back 9 when you start to tire. Magnificent views at the top of the course all the way to Heysham.

the course is really testing not one for the faint hearted the fairways were in good condition i was a bit dissapointed that you had to play with mats instead of putting it to side of the fairway still rules is rules plus on some holes you had to play to winter greens others you did'nt when all the greens looked in decent nick

I think most people have now established that Darwen is a very hilly course. If not....

DARWEN IS A VERY HILLY COURSE.

However, it is a very beautiful course.

The greens are superb. Very true and smooth and are a joy to play. The views out over the Lancashire hills are as good as any you will see in the UK and the course is rewarding if you manage it properly.

The front 9 are by fair easier than the back 9 - which, if you are having a bad day [or its windy] can punish you mentally and physically. A couple of holes are a real test of endurance and you should consider this if you are not as mobile as you once were. Its a test of fitness and stamina - but ultimately, the best courses often are.

Highly recommended.

Very hilly. Two very long par 5's that your happy to reach in 5! Wide range of hazzards with accending and desending gradients to contend with. Some of the holes fairways are at an angle which force the ball down hill. This just means the tee shot needs to be accurate. Easy to navigate with clear sign posting. Very nice views of the country side from the tees and holes at the top end of the course.

Front 9 park land & back 9 heath land ! Very Hilly & tends to roll to the left (but always towards the tower !). You need to shoot a good front 9 to come off with a decent score because it gets harder & hillier & windier round the back 9. Great fun & generally very friendly !
