Played twice (Woosnam) on a weekend package in April.
The course was looking very tired and needs a lot of work to bring it up to the standard that the club is currently advertising it as.
As soon as your ball leaves the fairway, you are playing off clumps of mud, bare lies and worm casts. There is no quality to the run off areas which leave you frustrated and facing a difficult shot into the greens.
The greens were OK but certainly nothing special.
There are a number of very good holes, some of the par fives are particularly good. The course has potential but needs a lot of money spending on it.
On the Sunday that we played, the course was really busy with a number of societies playing. The speed of play was far too slow and no sign of a Marshall.
We managed to play through 4 groups of golfers! and only then were we able to start enjoying the course.
The overnight stay was fine, the room was excellent and the evening meal was very nice.
I was a little disappointed with the attitude in the pro shop, no great enthusiasm or welcome.
The driving range is particularly poor with old tired mats and a few range balls for £2.
I do hope the club can raise the quality of the Woosman Course, its design deserves it.

Rating is because the course had been hollow-tined. The greens were absolutely awful - slow and bumpy. Short putts almost impossible to read. This isn't a fair reflection of the course which is superbly designed. Just don't go there when they've hollow-tined as the club clearly doesn't know how to do this while maintaining some sort of quality (I suggest they talk to Broadstone in Poole who's greens had also been treated but still played just as well as normal).

Its been a very long period of dry weather so the fairways have really suffered and are all brown and hard. The greens though are playing very well. The greens look like an oasis in the desert!!

Both courses are OK, but on is a bit backward and forwards in hole directions. Also make sure you book a buggy
if you need it prior to going, as sometimes they run out.

Coming back into shape well, greens improving, rough now down to a sensible height, most bunkers back in play.

The course suffered badly during the summer from a combination of the hot, dry summer and leatherjacket infestation, although the greens were unaffected in the main. Successful remedial work has been undertaken, and although some areas are GUR, it has come back very well. The two courses remain good value and provide different challenges.

tight fairways, penal rough, nice greens

played here for the first time both courses were ok but the greens were a bit touch and go, stayed in the hotel no fridge in room food expensive.
