Just got back from playing The Old Course at Dale Hill. I used to be a member here and having played this course for the first time in about four years, it has reignited my love for the place. The only negative, some of the bunkers were lacking sand......... that’s it. Green were good as were the tees. Amazing that the old course hasn’t suffered any of the Leather Jacket problems which has ruined the Woosnam course for the time being.
Even better after 1600 a round was only £17.50 and a buggy for £10. What’s not to like.

Just returned from 3 day break party of 8. Due to infestation Woosnam course very poor condition but had prior knowledge. Old course excellent . Service could not be bettered and by golf pro etc and hotel staff and various gestures made to compensate for inconvenience will return for 3rd visit and recommend. Tony Stamp

Dale Hill Golf Club

Stayed at the above course with a group of 20 senior players. The Woosnam course was abysmal. The fairways were ripped up. We were informed that there was an infestation of leather jackets with animals and birds creating a problem scraping /pecking the fairways. Our group were all off the opinion that the state of the fairways was more to do with poor course management. Apart from the fairways the bunkers were poorly kept - the sand was cheap and full of pebbles and most bunkered were unplayable.
Equally the greens were full of little stones.
I'm afraid this group of very experienced players with many years experience had nothing positive to say about the Woosnam course.
Dale Hill we believe have no other option but to close the course and do some major work in order to bring the course back to standard.
I must emphasise that the above comments relate to the Woosnam course only as the old course was in reasonably good condition.
Dale hill cannot expect golfers to pay for playing this course.Avoid.

May Seniors Open

The Woosnam course was the worst I have ever seen it, the leather jacket infestation and what looked like the removal of all the grass from most fairways has left the course looking very sad. The local rule allowed us to pick and place if you could find any grass to place it on. I love this golf course but found it suffering badly!

As it was a shotgun start the bar was packed and we queued for 15 mins to get a drink as only one bar was open due to a ladies match that was using the other bar! Come on Dale Hill this is just bad management!

Nice uncrowded round

All credit for a round of golf on a sunny Sunday morning with no slow four ball in front and no semi professional 2 ball playing to within inches of your bag behind

Leather jackets

We booked a 16 player Society day for last Friday (woosnam course ) I. Paid £10 pp deposit £160 non refundable. And 2 weeks before we went I was told we have the leather jacket infestation but when I asked was told only 2 fairways are bad , well all fairways have been scarified. , mud no grass . I believe they new about this ages ago but still took our money , leave this course well alone for 3 years

The course suffered badly during the summer from a combination of the hot, dry summer and leatherjacket infestation, although the greens were unaffected in the main. Successful remedial work has been undertaken, and although some areas are GUR, it has come back very well. The two courses remain good value and provide different challenges.

Great value for money, a well laid out course that has it's challenges. It is well kept and a solid establishment. I will definitely play here more frequently.

Lovely Course

This is a course that's very hard to fault. There's a lovely mix of holes, especially amongst the par 3's. Apart from some very smooth and undulating greens, there's a decent amount of water and sand to make you work for your score. That all said, this is a course that most handicaps will enjoy playing.

There was a very pleasant welcome in the pro shop and the clubhouse too, which is always nice.
