Fantastic golf courses

Great golf set up. Woosie course is first class. Heat tee boxes, fab fairways and nice receptive greens. Old course is slightly shorter, but still a tough challenge.

Nice staff and rooms are good.

The Woosnam course is a good test with difficult greens . The rooms are comfortable and great views over the old course . I found some of the staff rude ignoring you when it was busy , probably due to under staffing . I found the food and drinks expensive but that is my personal opinion . Dinner was served upstairs with about 40 people with no windows open and when i asked if they could open them was ignored ,i asked at breakfast and was told not many opened , not impressed due to covid !

Society weekend.

Both courses in excellent conditions, a good test on each. Only downfall was the service in the bar and restaurant. Understandably understaffed at present but it took an age to get food and drinks. The staff that were there were excellent but they were run off their feet.

Although a bit short i really enjoyed the old course. Condition was great and lots of undulations and a good layout. Staff in the clubhouse were slow and a bit rude.

Mud mud everywhere!

We were due to play on the members course but on arrival were informed that it was closed due to mud and water. We were moved onto the Woosnam course.
Our society have a number of keen golfers who will play in the wind and rain and will accept imperfect conditions to play.
However, on this occasion, it was clear after just a few holes that the course should not be open. Golf balls were plugging on the fairways and anything off line resulted in a lost ball on many occasions. Some greens had damaged areas and footmarks due to being soaked. Once you have played a few holes, you just keep going. Its what society golfers do!
The amount of mud in the well used areas was awful and the rough had been allowed to grow making it a very disappointing day
We all managed to get round because that's what crazy golfers do when they have travelled long distances and taken the day off work.
I know times are tough and businesses need to make money but than course on that day should not have been open for play.
I hope the course recovers quickly and not too many golfers are allowed to play on it in that condition.

Not for societies

Woosnam course is decent and worth a visit. The greens were in good condition and the majority of the course well maintained. The old course is nothing special, you could probably play a mid iron off every tee.

The front desk were polite and helpful but the service in restaurant and bar was appalling. If you were lucky enough to get someone’s attention then it would still take a good 15 mins for your drinks to arrive. The food was tasted cheap and was overpriced. Things were that bad that our whole group walked down to the local pub.

I’d happily play again if I was in the area but will not be returning as part of a society.

Enjoyable course

Lovely to play sadly my game wasn't up to it but would love to take on the challenge again. Food in the evening was fabulous.

Played here at a Charity golf day. The Woosnam Course is challenging but great fun with some links-like long par 5s and a variety of hard par 3s. It's long and very spread out so buggy hire is sensible. Course is in excellent nick showing no evidence of the terrible leatherjacket damage they had a year or so ago. Fast greens. Bunkers in great condition, no major water hazards. Great place for societies and golf days as the modern clubhouse has all the bells and whistles and a hotel. Friendly pro shop and greenkeepers.

Coming back into shape well, greens improving, rough now down to a sensible height, most bunkers back in play.
