Good course, disappointing service...

When we arrived at the course we realised something was afoot as the car park was absolutely rammed. We had to park on the road outside. Upon arrival we were told that we were the first tee time behind the seniors open event and alarm bells really were ringing. We were right too - we walked off over four hours later having only played twelve holes. It was painful. I wouldn't have had an issue with this had we been told upon booking - the choice was then ours. But, after an hour's drive, we had little choice but to give it a go. It definitely wasn't £40 well spent. To their credit, we did email to complain and were offered an apology and a free round. I don't think I would want to travel all that way back.

On the plus side, the course was in great nick as stated by many on here. For me, too many criss-crossing holes. Some the holes were like the local high street at times and it did get a bit confusing. The wind was also bonkers as well which, of course, isn't anyone's fault. But the club is very high up so it might always be like this. Not good for a high handicapper like me.

What a course! Playing around a former stone quary with rock cliffs, chasms and split level fairways. So very windy on the day that we played, made it hard going, especially when you don't know the course layout etc. A bit too `up and down hill`for my liking, but my friend thought it was great. I felt I'd been in a battle with the course and came off second best. Staff and other golfers were friendly.

Good challenging course in the Colne Valley, with plenty of ravines to navigate to get onto the greens!

Pros and cons

A great collection of interesting holes in good condition. Nice location with great views and nice clubhouse and associated facilities. But the layout.........Really confusing and constantly aware of other games playing across your game.

Always enjoyable.

Played several times but this was the first visit when all the heather was in bloom. Purple flowers everywhere, stunning. Great course with a real variety of holes, great views too and tricky when the wind blows!

Very enjoyably course with excellent views. Not the longest course but a genuine test for all levels. Par threes are excellent as are the sub 300 yard holes where strategy is so important. Would happily return tomorrow !!

Very warm welcome in the pro shop, despite bad weather and the 'course closed' sign being displayed we were promised a round, after a coffee and a slight delay, we tee'd off. Playing in a 2-ball on a busy course with lots of members in 4-balls, it has to be said the members are a credit to their club. We played through several groups, all were welcoming and complimentary of our shots. Nice course, good greens, watch out for the quarries, make the par 3s a real challenge!

Played in Rabbits Open on a damp, cool, windy day. There had been lots of rain overnight but the course was dry, unless you were in the rough. First 4 holes go in 4 different directions and wind tends to be westerly or south westerly.
Fairways are reasonably generous but watch out for the heather (lots of it).

Some very challenging par 3s over quarries where it's all about carry and wind.
We will be bask in 2016.
