What The Club Says

Laid out in two loops of nine holes, both starting within 80 yards of the clubhouse, the course offers a wonderful variety of golf played on springy moorland turf. The greens, recently upgraded to USGA standards offer the best chance of play throughout the year.

fantastic tough course - at the moment it is being set up for a competition, so the rough is rough, fairways tight and the greens impeccable

Expensive, tatty, holes shut but full price

50 pounds in winter, two of the best holes shut and the rest tatty and uninspiring if I am being honest. Starts with a crossover hole which is a bit weird for such an expensive course. Played behind two young lads who were obviously new golfers and held everyone up for the whole round until we eventually drove past them in the bushes and walked past. Clubhouse nice but putting visitors in a room with no one in it which is also being set up for dinner is not very inviting. A pity really as I expected better for the money and I have played much butter and much more interesting courses for similar money, for example Coxmoor which is much nicer.

Top notch golf experience

This is a challenging course set in glorious undulating parkland with a lovely listed building and associated outbuildings providing great clubhouse facilities for the members and their guests. From the warm welcome in the well stocked pro shop through playing the course to the apres golf refreshments it provides a really enjoyable golf experience. Highly recommended

A tough knock with some greens well protected, a bit hilly in places but a course that you really must find fairways as there is plenty of thick grass off it. The views on some parts of the course were quite stunning all in all a very nice course with some hard holes and an expensive bar £4.60 for a pint of carling was a bit of a sting in the tail!

Another course I'd not played before. In good condition and hard for a high handicapper such as myself. Very enjoyable though

Very tough course in the wind. Fairways run quick and long walks between tees and greens (not always obvious where to go). Club house was impressive building.

Great back 9

This is a course of two halves. The first crosses over itself and a road a few times. The second takes you up over a hill and into a different part of the course with interesting holes and great views. The 11th and 12th were particularly memorable holes, and the par 5 18th is fun on the currently scorched fairways. The welcome in the pro-shop was excellent. The only problem was the greens. What has happened to them? It is like they've been spiked and new grass has grown in furrows. They didn't run well at all and were disappointing. Shame as the rest of the experience was excellent.

Great place to play golf as always

Having played Huddersfield GC (Fixby) as few times before it's always nice to return. Always friendly welcome in clubhouse and members. Course always in great nick despite recent poor weather. Was on winter course so a few tee mats in play and some fairways had to play of mats. A couple of holes rejigged on the back nine as two of holes closed but didn't spoil the round as the two replacement holes nice to play for a change. Greens not the best I have seen them as usually fantastic but recent wet weather made them a little unpredictable but still nice to play on, Definately one of courses to play at least once.
