Avoid the 9 hole. For some bizarre reason they have introduced football golf to the course. This means that you've got groups of kids running around and kicking footballs across the greens while you try to play golf. It's a real shame it's a nice little par three course but this has ruined it.

I've played this course regularly over the past few years and am sorry to say have watched it go steadily backwards. The tee boxes and fairways were in reasonable condition today although they are worryingly dry at this early stage of the season. The greens are mediocre at best and proved terribly inconsistent from one hole to the next. The sand traps are nothing short of an absolute disgrace with majority being void of sand and full of stones. Areas of the course have been designated 'GUR' for weeks now with no apparent effort being made to actually carry out repairs. I could overlook a few of my misgivings had the round been more reasonably priced. A round at this course is now in the same price bracket as the better and more cared for courses that can be found nearby.

Not a great golfing experience

Overall this was not a very enjoyable round of golf. We arrived around 30mins before our tee time to have a practise putt, loosen up etc. There is a tiny putting green, some kids were having a putting lesson so no space for golfers to putt, which was not a great start. Considering this is a 27 hole complex the putting green is very small. There are no nets here either to hit a few practise swings. There is a golf range, but that is back through the car park so no good once you have already made it to the first tee area. We walked to the 1st tee only to find a massive queue. We walked over 10 mins prior to our tee and there were five 4 balls waiting to tee off. We asked what their times were, they were all earlier than us, but there were only 2 mins apart!. It is impossible to get even solo golfers out with only tee times 2 mins apart. They clearly only want money at this course and at £39.50 a time they are raking it in. A Marshall/start would be beneficial during peak times like other courses to keep everything moving. It is short, many holes is a driver (or long iron) and a chip onto the green. It's a long pitch and putt course rather than a "proper golf course". The round also took 5 hours to play as every shot was waiting. Each tee had 3 groups on it. Every green was bumpy, as other reviewers have said. The ball never rolls true and some of the fairways are the same length as the rough, especially holes 11 and 12. Perhaps with the rain it was not possible to cut the grass, which is fine - but you cannot charge £39.50 for a course like this. Bunkers (I went in a few) had not much sand and was full of stones. I refused to hit out of some as they would have damaged my club!. My local council course is far better than this and they only charge £19 per round. There also does not appear to have a dress code here either. Some golfers were wearing round neck t-shirts with tracksuit bottoms, and we saw two group containing 8 golfers. Maybe there was a club tournament on this weekend, but the number of people on the course was ridiculous. I would not come back here, especially not at these prices. This is a max £30 course at peak times but only when in tip top condition and this is far from that stage.

Very Overpriced

Played this course many times, not for a few years though. Couldn't believe they now charged ?39 per round, considering the condition of the greens. Really let's the course down.

Diseased greens

Such a shame, but all 18 greens are decimated by disease. Bumps/craters/patches on all 18. Rest of the course is fine (some bunkers with very little sand) but barely worth putting at the moment. They are allowing grass to grow, so putts are so slow, but also jumping left/right as they go over bare patches etc. A real shame, but seriously avoid until fixed.

Maybe come back next year

Big complex with 18 & 9 hole courses and large range. Chiefly public / pay & play. Decent enough layout and challenge, but the greens have recently seen a lot of disease and are really not up to scratch yet. My guess is it'll be several months before they are. The bunkers are pretty awful too. Little sand (more like mud actually) and generally scruffy. This course is heavily played and the general air says probably overplayed.
