Many of the bunkers are still GUR which is very disappointing, otherwise a great course with some fantastic holes

Cours is undergoing major refurbishment with a number of bunkers being GUR at the moment and with two temporary greens when I played. Otherwise it is a tricky but enjoyable course to play.

A visually impressive and intimidating course which was probably excellent in it's day. Excellent use of the stream which meanders throughout the course and thee are innumerable bunkers, most of which are in very poor repair.
Sadly there were still 3 temporary greens and 1 hole closed completely all of which devalued the whole experience.

A nick faldo designed course in the middle of the countryside. The layout was very good and the course played well. This course has 302 bunkers which is mental (a good mental). Also includes the Anaconda bunker which is the longest in the U.K. The greens were pretty fast but needed some attention as they seemed a bit bobbly. Nice use of water around the course. Some blind holes and some dog legs so has it all. I will definitely be back for another round and the winter 4 ball special is only £25 each. Faldo has done a great job on this course. See if you can out drive him on the 1st as he has a plaque on the fairway !!!!

This is a good course that would be great when all the bunkers are in play. Sadly many are GUR. Hopefully this can be rectified and the course returned to being top class

Good condition for time of year and £100 for a 4 ball is a good price for a course of this quality

Was really looking forward to this as I'd heard of the course but never actually played it and now I have, I'm not sure what to think. It's a wonderful layout don't get me wrong, with some really good holes, and no doubt it would be a real challenge off the back tees but we were off the front blue tees unfortunately and it was a bitterly cold Jan day.
I'm not sure what the grounds staff and green keepers are up to currently but there clearly is a lot of work going on as there was heavy plant working on the first and we teed off over 100 yds ahead of the normal tee box but still as a par 5 even though it was a drive followed by a 9 iron for a 404yd gift eagle!
The big thing you begin to notice quite quickly is the apparent number of GUR bunkers too. It feels like a 3rd of the courses bunkers are GUR, why I have no idea. There's that feeling to the course that it is desperately in need of some TLC. The tee boxes, distance markers on the tee boxes are barely visible down to the bins, water hazard posts and Tarmac link paths etc etc.
It really just seems like a bit of a shame as all the way round I was thinking, I bet in its day, this would have been sensational. You should never be a player thinking that all the way around a course. God knows what the members think to the current very tired look.
They either need a huge cash injection for the greens keepers or the keepers need a rocket up their XXXXX. What a shame.
Played Jan 5th. Handicap 3.6 Par 72 Round 74.
