The course was in decent condition but not as good as it's been. It has been worst though

Played on a sunday afternoon and course was very quiet. £42 standard price, discounted to £26 was still expensive compared to other courses in the area.
However the course was in fair condition with very firm fairways and good greens. Bunkers were also reasonable.

This could be quite a nice golf course/club. nice lay out and some picturesque views.
some very good holes.
Some stupidly small greens!
Greens are very poor, spongy to walk on and very very slow.
Tees were a bit scruffy and hard.
clubhouse needs knocking down.
Staff and members are very friendly.

We paid our once or twice a year viist recently. The greens were in pretty grotty condition, but, for the money, this is a course that we commend......But, we met a new feature for the first time ever this time. We were behind a group of FIVE (yes five) member players. When I spoke to one of them (to ask if this was a Chalgrave habit) he very cheerfully offered for us to play through. However, we thought that a four playing through a five would be like the M1 on a Friday. So, we just played five-ball pace!
We know that this course prides itself on Member needs, but surely a basic rule of golf etiqutte should be observed?

Worth a visit
Nice interesting course. Greens in good condition but playing very slow on day of visit. Tee boxes a bit untidy and some parts of course have obviously suffered damage due to weather conditions throughout the summer. However some challenging holes and worth a visit.Reviewer Rating

Great round last week, some really good and well thought out holes, and generally in good condition with excellent greens - super friendly staff too!
