Only downer was that the showers were stone cold and as there was two societies there only the front groups of our society got a reasonable shower
Otherwise a very good day

In my opinion, the course is one of the best in Essex. It has undergone some significant changes over the last few years; most noticably the 14th (with a changed tee position, large slope to the right of the fairway with out of bounds and the addition of a large water hazard in front of the green which makes the second shot very daunting!) and the 10th, which has been shortened slightly and a brand new green built. I was worried about the changes to the 10th in particular, but the hole has actually improved with the changes.
Although quite a long course, you have to think your way around and can't just bomb shots off the tee - any wayward drive / approach will be punished, which means that there is never a dull moment during your round!
All of the holes present a different challenge, but the last four in particular have got to be up there with the best closing holes around.
The club also has a thriving junior section, with a lot of emphasis on bringing young golfers through the ranks, which will hopefully ensure the future of the club.
The membership is quite expensive at over £1,000 for 7 day, but if you can afford it then there is no other course nearby that I would recommend more.
I was absolutely gutted when I had to give up my membership, but play there whenever I get the chance.
If you enjoy golf, you simply have to play here.

Great round
First time back in 2024. After a lot of rain the clouds held off for a few days. The course was in great condition with greens running quite fast. Great day out.Reviewer Rating

Definitely worth a visit
Very enjoyable course to play. Some challenging holes requiring thoughtful Club selection and accurate shots. Despite being wet and boggy in places course in excellent condition. Greens soft and spongy but running very true. Expect them to be very good in summer!Reviewer Rating
