What The Club Says

This 18 hole course is set in 150 acres of beautiful rolling Hertfordshire countryside and is perfect for golfers who enjoy a challenge and like to think their way round a course. The par 71, 6,237 yard layout has been subject to a large investment of time and effort over the last couple of years. A challenging course with immaculate greens and fairways awaits golfers visiting the Manor of Groves Country Manor Hotel, Golf and Country Club. Located close to the Hertfordshire/Essex border.

A lovely but very challenging course. It is relatively flat and walkable which is fortunate as they don't seem to have many buggies. One massive plus was that they take green free vouchers so the cost of our round was very acceptable.

The course was baked solid and very busy on the day we visited which made a tough course all the more frustrating.

It has numerous holes copiously guarded by bunkers, it has ponds, streams and numerous double ditches in play. This makes it a challenge in good conditions but when the fairways are like concrete your ball can bounce into any of these from various directions.

Although the hot weather had taken its toll on the condition of most parts of the course the greens had been kept in very good condition.

The clubhouse is excellent and the welcome from staff and members was very friendly.

The course is in lovely and tranquil surroundings but don't be lulled into a false sense of security as you go round as the 2 par five?s in the last 3 holes make it a long hard trip home !!

Enjoyable course

The course is well-layed out and has some interesting and challenging holes.
Greens were good and fast. Tees are currently terrible and in need of a lot of TLC.

Tight & tricky

Tight and tricky in places, Manor of Groves rewards accuracy and course management—you really have to think your way round. The layout offers good variety, with some testing holes. Greens were excellent, running true and quick. Overall, an enjoyable challenge and good value

Manor of Groves

Only served rolls at breakfast no cooked breakfast. Greens and tees worn and needed attention. Hospitality of staff was excellent- green keepers, cafe staff and especially the golf pro, really helpful. Course was a good layout and pace of play was ok.

The course layout was interesting and challenging. The general condition was rar5her scruffy though. Tees poor, worn out and uneven. The greens were patchy and some were damaged necessitating the need to move the ball and discuss rules. The fairways were hard to define sometimes between that and light rough. The bar, clubhouse and pro shop good and stand friendly. Couldn't fault the food although no vegetarian options at the clubhouse bar when looking for a snack... other than chips.

Generally the course was in good condition, apart from the greens which need quite a bit of attention.
Swimming pool is looking a bit tired though, but generally pretty good

Okay but needs some investment

Nice course with some very nicely laid out holes. The greens were in generally okay condition but the fringes and some of the greens were in very poor condition.
