Excellent course
Excellent course in great condition, very different to what I am use to playing as it had a feel of a links course in places which was very enjoyable with some good views.Reviewer Rating

Not too hilly
Lovely course set up quite wide and so not too difficult for first time visitors. Only a couple of tricky tee shots where target area is blind. Course in great condition and pace of play was great. Staff and members very welcoming and friendly. Would recommend.(Round played: Jul 2020 - Score: 80 Handicap: 16)

Good course, better on a Thursday
We played this course as a warm up for Cavendish in the afternoon and we certainly enjoyed it a lot. The course meanders between busy roads and has some really challenging holes and some straight forward ones. Look out for hole 4 which is edged by a busy road which for anyone with a fade is going find really worrying. Lots of holes over quarry type land and a couple of interesting par 3's. Apparently on Thursday's this course is ?10 a round, which would be a bargain. In reality it is a nice course, but for the money there are better ones in the local area like Chapel en le Frith for example. Get it for ?10 and you will be very happy !Reviewer Rating

In great condition whilst others struggle
Took advantage of ?10 Thursday offer (again). Worth checking how busy course is beforehand (if a single player like myself). Today was no issues. Previous week I was stuck behind a sloooow society.Friendly greeting - all aspects of course in great condition bearing in mind recent wet weather. Download the hole-by-hole crib notes !
One small gripe - 2 winter greens were in use although website did not reflect that. It may have been on board at clubhouse and I just missed it. Perhaps a sign at relevant tee-box - "winter green in use" - may be beneficial.
I have courses closer, but worth the 45min drive for great value for money

An unexpected delight!
My only previous experience of BHPGC was driving through the course on the A6 into Buxton on many occasions. Nothing I saw from the road has ever enticed me to go and play there. For the last year however, I have been a member at nearby Cavendish, happy to make the 30 minute drive over Long Hill from my home in Stockport to play golf each week on such a great course. Many of my friends at Cavendish are former members at High Peak, and all speak highly of that course too.
Yesterday I put right my omission and played BHPGC in the Henriques Putter, a competition held jointly for members of the two Buxton clubs.
I was absolutely bowled over by the course. The layout makes outstanding use of very interesting golfing terrain, with the limestone bedrock making itself plain in the micro-undulations to be found throughout, particularly in the fabulous stretch from holes 4-6. The turf quality throughout the course is excellent, and it really does feel that you are playing on a seaside links.
The greens were excellent - although not as tricky as the legendary Cavendish greens they were a total pleasure to putt on and ran very true.
The only downsides I could identify are the slight remoteness of the clubhouse from the course and its lack of outside sitting area, together with the busy A6 which must be crossed twice at some peril, and which provides an unfortunate aural backdrop on a few holes.
All in all I absolutely loved High Peak, and will be back for sure. Scoring 79 (net 66) probably helped my assessment!
Anyone planning a golfing break should put Buxton at the top of their list. It's a lovely town with plenty of affordable accommodation, a wide range of excellent restaurants and bars, and two great golf courses. The combination of Cavendish and High Peak will delight all discerning golfers.
