Heavy conditions underfoot all the greens were in play though and most of the tees.This winter has taken its toll on the greens with putting a lottery!!! having said that the course has stood up very well considering.

After the snow of the previous week this was only the third day open. The greens and fairways were in reasonable condition, but around the tees it was very muddy. The first 9 more interesting than the second, a nice course more with no excessively long holes, but lots of trees if come into play if youare a bit wayward. I will return when it drys up a bit.

Played the course after yet more heavy rain!!!! and its begining to take its toll,everything is now soaked to overflowing,still enjoyed the golf and the conditions made the tight fairways tougher with no roll.The greens were all open which was a credit to the green keeping staff.

The course was good however it was dissapointing to be playing on temperary tees as I feel there is adequate space on the normal tees. I feel all they need to do is keep moving the tee box around each week.

The course played heavy today after alot of rain,but greens were still in good nick if slow.Bunkers unplayable as most were flooded.Welcome to winter golf!!!!

Bulbury Woods is not as easy as it looks with alot of tree lined fairways you have to stay straight,start spraying the ball left and right and you will be in all sorts of trouble,not to mention a few balls lighter!!

Hotest day of the year and the course was almost deserted,it was in great nick considering the crap summer we have had.Pity I didnt play well!!!

The course is in pretty good condition considering the amount of rain.Greens a bit on the slow side but this is only to be expected.

A short course but with a good variety of holes. Most fairways are tree-lined, making accuracy far more important than length. Unfortunately after an interesting round the last five holes are pretty much dead straight with the exception of the par 5 16th, which as a par 4 would be another nice hole but as a par 5 is a definite birdie opportunity for all handicaps at only 456 yards. The greens, whilst not particularly fast, are true, smooth and receptive, and very rarely flat - putting here is rarely straightforward. The rest of the course I would say is averagely well kept, my main complaint being the grass is quite thin - possibly due to the fact that the course seems to retain water, and can get very damp; probably much better in the summer.
A decent round if you're in the area, but I wouldn't travel too far to play it. Within 10-15 miles, Canford Magna and Moors Valley offer better golf at similar prices, and also the Dorset Country Club if you're willing to pay a little more.

Provides an enjoyable game of golf for mid to high handicappers.
Quite hilly in places.
Usually in good condition, however, some areas can be a bit soft underfoot.
Nice clubhouse.

Becoming more challenging
On initial arrival at Bulbury Woods it seems a bit unkept with the rough looking like the mowers are in the repair shop awaiting spares. Clearly this is not the case because the fairways and greens are in great condition. So beware, a topped tee shot, hook or slice will be punished. In addition you might find play a bit slow if to many golfers spend to much time trying to find their Pro V1 in the rough. Play a provisional and move on.Reviewer Rating

Tight Course
Bulbury will always test your ability because of the narrowness of the fairways and tight lines that are required. Therefore, a course that makes you think you’re way around and with very wet conditions, picking the right club and shot paramount.It remains a test in all conditions and well done for the course being open during this time.
