Forest Course
First thing to say is if you're playing the Forest course, don't take you clubs out of the car when you get to the Bramshaw clubhouse/pro shop. The Forest course is actually about half a mile away, and when you get there there's nothing there apart from the 1st tee and a car park.I say this not having played the Manor course yet, but the Forest course does clearly appear to be the lesser of the two courses. We were told that the club are only allowed to do work to the greens and the tees, so the fairways are left to nature and the numerous cows and horses that wander around. Hoof marks are everywhere, along with other substances best found on rose beds. The greens and tees are very decent though.
I think I only saw two or three 150 yard markers out on the course, so be prepared for a few waits while golfers shuffle clubs until they pick one that might be right. If you were playing behind me today then I apologise for doing that!
The fairways are wide. Very wide! I think the first hole that really feels anything close to tight is the 9th, and after that it opens up again. I only saw a few holes that had any bunkers on, and most of the course's protection comes from streams in front or behind the greens, and a number of raised greens that make sure only accurate approach shots remain on the putting surface.
There are some lovely holes on the course and its certainly worth giving a go, but I imagine that it's probably suited best to mid to high handicappers.
The welcome in the (well stocked) pro shop was everything you'd hope for, and as for the clubhouse, it's just really lovely. There's a wonderful balcony for sitting out and watching the world go by. Or the Bramshaw GC bit of the world anyway.

It was my first course and for a forest course the Fairways were in good condition the greens wrinkled condition and it was good for the price of it

It's a course that you'd need to play a couple of times in order to learn how to avoid the numerous ditches. Accuracy is far more important than distance with greens

Course started off pretty ropey to be honest but it grew on me and improved drastically towards the back nine. The back nine was good to be fair. Greens were superb.The whole course is very raw and rough n ready but I liked that...it was like playing a course from the 15th century. Interesting experience but wouldn't rush back in a hurry.

Manor course
First time visit on a hot Saturday evening in August, playing twilight and almost had the place to ourselves. Friendly welcome and decent facilities to warm up. Course was in pretty good condition considering the historic drought and we enjoyed our game. The greens needed a cut as a bit slow although still playable and possibly a necessary approach with the hot weather. Nice scenery though and fairly interesting layout. The course was offering 50% off green fees online seemingly throughout August in light of maintenance work on the greens but, while the work was obvious and the greens weren't great, this didn't massively affect things so £17.50 for an early afternoon round represented excellent value.
I've played it before and it's a very nice course but it does struggle a bit with drainage (the starter forewarned that there are two huge new ditches on 6 and 16 since my last visit which hopefully will improve things a lot in the winter) and there were still a few places on the fairways that were a bit boggy, which isn't great for the height of summer! I suppose it has been rather wet of late...
Only three groups in the vicinity on the course so it was very quiet and we were round in 3h30 so a good pace of play.
And a special mention for the friendliest bartender you'll ever meet in the clubhouse bar afterwards - tell him you're a Spurs fan and you may get a 100% discount!
For those who haven't played before, there are 3 or 4 short par 4s, one of which is definitely driveable - the 12th. The tee is very close to the clubhouse, practice green etc so have a go at it and take the plaudits if you get on in one!

Forest course.
A great course. What has been done with 15 is a shame. You are hitting to the wettest part of the course that fairway. Way better as a par 3 to the old green; a much better hole.Reviewer Rating
