What the club says: The course gently weaves its way through the ancient woodland of the Hamptworth estate giving you the impression that the course has stood here for more than 100 years. The course is the perfect mix of forest, downland and intriguing water hazards, most of which are the result of the river Blackwater meandering its way through the course giving it its very own natural qualities.

Long walks
Nice course set in the countryside of the New Forest. Course was in good condition with the greens running true and medium quick. One downside is some of the walks between the greens and tees are rather lengthy. Add in some of the hills and fitness is a factorReviewer Rating

Excellent course
Set on the boundary of the New Forest Hamptworth is a very well-designed and maintained golf course. It provides a good test even for the best of golfers. Reflecting recent investment the clubhouse is of an excellent standard.Overall I would recommend a visit.

Good course worth visiting
Set amongst the slopes of the New Forest this course is worth a visit. Very good tees and fairways and on the day I played true running greens. Be aware of the slopes and some of the walks from greens to the next tee, if you walk a good level of fitness is required. Buggies are available if booked in advance.Reviewer Rating

Brilliant and well maintained course
First time playing this course and we were impressed. Its a challenging course and its very well maintained. We also had an attempt at the 6 par 666 yard Beast, but you also have the option to play it as a 5 par. Friendly team running the place, we will be going back soon.Reviewer Rating

Challenging, enjoyable, recommended
I've played here a few times, in differing conditions. In the sunshine it is a joy to look at, with views of the Wiltshire countryside for miles, especially down the first fairway. Some very difficult holes, with a good mixture or risk vs rewards shots to tempt you.Very well kept, neatly maintained bunkers and super fast greens.
I visited in mid December this time, and parts were pretty waterlogged along the fairways, but the greens were all running really well and true, although they are suffering from the perpetual problem of unprepared pitch-marks. Otherwise very good.
Halfway house is excellent and very welcome. Starter is friendly, knowledgeable and helpful.
Didn't really see much of the pro-shop and bar area due to Covid. Higly recommended overall.

A great challenge
A great course. You need your 'A' game to get a good score. Some very challenging, yet memorable holes, but all are interesting requiring a selection of shots off the tee. The greens have been in great condition the last few times I've played. 'The Beast' is a great challenge! Very good value for money.Reviewer Rating
