A summer course.
Although Benton Hall is a superb course during the summer months at this time of year it is a typical Essex clay based course. At times the course should be closed but is kept open for whatever reason and although the greenkeeping staff are very good there is not a lot they can do about the wet weather which turns the course into a carry only muddy course.(Round played: Jan 2018 - Score: 94 Handicap: 15.9)

Always fantastic to play here.
Play Benton Hall as a member a lot. There has been some excellent work done on the course, which has improved the drainage no end.Very challenging, but love it.

Came over midweek not told men's comp was out that morning had 11 people on one hole walked off at the 10th disgrace for the money

Fun all round!!

Lovely course. Lots of interesting holes. Plenty of space if your a bit wayward on the front nine. Back nine is tighter and needs some course management.

Lot of good work done over the winter to make the course even better. One of the club companies great courses. Do you dare go for the green on the 16th?

How refreshing to find a golf club in Essex that doesn't jump on the summer bandwagon and the green fee goes rocketing up. Can say it has been a few years since I have played at Benton hall. What a fantastic course, haven't played on better greens for ages, nice speed and very true,rolled the ball very well. Also the practice green was a similar speed and condition, green staff obviously spend time on practice areas as well as main course. Well done. Main course was in fantastic condition ,the trees have grown since I have last played,nice to see a lot of holes framed by tree lined fairways, plenty of variation in holes to keep interest up during round, standout holes. (Many). But in particular,,4th good driving hole. As is 5th. 7&8. Location and setting, (2n shot to 8th over pond is stunning,). 14 to 18, Great run in, lots of trees to pick your way through, 16th par 3 over river always a challenge, Overall 10/10. Well done Benton Hall for a fantastic course at a great price, book online ?36 for 2 people, Already getting the rest of the gang together for another round.

First time here. A really lovely, tough golf course in a beautiful condition. Definitely a course where you need to play a few times before learning what shots to play on some of the holes. I lost two balls on two separate holes after beautiful drives due to trouble up ahead that I could have avoided by taking a lesser club off the tee. The greens ran very true and were deceptively slow compared to what I expected and had some wicked breaks, very hard to read. Clubhouse and food were excellent.
