What the club says: The award winning Badgers Par 3 is a truly beautiful course of outstanding natural beauty, widely regarded as one of the finest of its kind. Set in the middle of a woodland glade, in a tranquil spot, over undulating countryside, with an abundance of water & sand features, this is a fine & very challenging course. It takes its name from the resident families of wild badgers who live there in a special conservation area.
Bunsay Downs Coure is a mature & very attractive course with sweeping views over gentle gradients, it is suitable for all ages, abilities and standards of golfer, from the novice to the experienced player.

Awful
I remember this course as being great to play. Unfortunately the greens are now extremely poor, diseased and weed ridden (not to mention the various badger diggings!) In addition the sprinkler system seems to flood the greens rather than soften them. £15 to play this course is a total rip off. I've emailed the club direct to advise them of all of thisReviewer Rating

Bunsay (Badgers)
First time I’ve been for a number of years. Took my son, promising what I remembered to be akin to a beautiful “mini-Augusta”.Unfortunately the course was in very poor nick, especially the greens. Some were utterly dug up (moles??), some littered with weeds and overall very little in the way of a proper putting surface. The bunkers were rock solid - indeed my son shot a direct hit into a bunker, the ball ricocheted out of the solid sand and landed a couple of feet away from the pin! The bar was poorly stocked despite being well into a heatwave that was expected with plenty of notice. Great layout, but really poor nick I’m afraid.
£15 green fee, great value if the greens were better…

Mr
Badgers is one of the best par 3 courses played, don't be fooled by it being a par 3 as you might loose some balls. There has been a big improvement with the course recently, well worth a visit.Reviewer Rating

£16 - In Perpective
We as a group had not played Bunsay for about 6 years..give or take and thought we would reminisce. The price was good, not Cafe so we went to the sister course (about a mile away for a Bacon Sarnie, etc) .Back to the golf, we found the course had not changed much, shabby around the edges uncut grass areas, half-decent greens although full of weeds. This has the potential to be a really good club but it's very tired and needs investment. Service in the bar after was poor as the young lad had no idea about bar work.. still, we enjoyed the experience but probably won't be back for a few years again which is a shame.

Mr
Have been a member for over 20 years and will play again. However the last few years have been particularly difficult for the club.
Lack of green keepers has shown course care to be lacking.
Facilities are poor at present and communication levels are non existent from management.
Staff behind the club house counter are always friendly.
All the above is such a pity because Bunsay and Badgers(the 9 hole par 3)are beautiful little courses and deserve better.

Going downhill!
Have been a member here for getting on a decade. Maintenance is poor to say the least particularly what was the excellent par 3 Badgers where no work has been done on the bunkers for over a year and now full of weeds. Very disappointing but the owners the Warren Estate want to turn it into a Caravan Park and put all money and effort into the Warren where they charge a fortune for membership.(Round played: Jun 2021 - Score: 73 Handicap: 16.8)

The ?could be great?course
Beautiful setting and can be very picturesque.Unfortunately the Golfer seems to come second.
Watering of the course takes place without any concern for the golfer at times which interfere with play.
Greens are left with animal dug holes which should be dealt with as priority.
Bunkers are to be frank appalling with weeds rife and unraked sand.
Mowing appears to take precedence!!

Great Little Course
Had a good couple of rounds here at the end of 2020. Used the par 3 course as a warm up before switching to the regular course. Lots of areas to catch you out and some great fun holes to play. The weather was awful but the course was still in really good condition.

Very average course now
Since before Covid struck,Bunsay has been on the slide down. This could be a super little course which combined with ?Badgers'makes for a testing game of golf in a pretty setting at a reasonable price.Regretfully since Covid there has been a noticeable lack of care for the playing public with bunkers and greens in a generally poor condition.put that together with a lack of refreshments other than tes/coffee and the overall experience is poor.Reviewer Rating

A Great Shame
Having enjoyed this course for the past 15 years a few times every year it’s a great shame to see it in its current state. It’s been getting progressively worse but yesterday’s round was the final straw. Firstly there was no hand sanitizer in the clubhouse, just a messy bottle of soap and no water, not clearly labelled . The tees resembled a dust bowl, with no grass on them whatsoever. Every tee was adorned with litter, broken tees or bottle caps. The walk ways had not been mowed, neither the fairways or rough. Approaching the green my expectations where low but even then they surprised me. Strange 2 inch holes scattered nearly on every green, with no indication where the first cut finished and the green started. There was moss and some other weed spread over every green with at least 25% of each green deemed ‘un-puttable’ by myself and the accomplished golfers i had the misfortune of sharing this experience with. On some greens some sections of the grass had mutated into a black ooze! This is my first review and I’m saddened to have to submit such a daming report however i felt compelled to ward fellow golfers away. What was once a great course, kept in great condition and held in one of the highest regards in the area has now sadly due to negligence become no better than a park pitch and putt.
Even then i fell i’m doing a disservice to council run pitch and putts!
