this could be a very good course, it just needs some good maintenance, a new clubhouse with all the normal facilities would be a great bonus but unlikely to happen

Wet Day out at Belfairs GC Leigh
As part of a family get together this was my first time back at Belfairs GC for 7 years. I always liked the layout oof the course and as such since that time it has not really changed. However when you play as many courses as I do then you definitely see why people don't return. Firstly at £18.96 (why not £19..) it is not great value especially when its rivals such as Mardyke, Top Meadow and Basildon offer a better experience. Belfairs is pretty, tight course with many tree line holes . It is council run so suffers from a lack of investment overall in terms of maintenance, money spent on it and especially because i is a very busy wood with Dog Walkers, Children and many people enjoying the woods as they should. The greens were generally good but needed a cut (12th and 13th were in poor condition though). Teeboxes needed a cut and at times the grass was enclosing the Ball at tee off. Most of the fairways were in reasonable condition. Back to the game well its safe to say the weather was poor and this hampered playing conditions further. Overall it needs money spent on it. It is ok but the competition for midweek golf there is better value elsewhere which is a shame because it could be a great course.(Round played: Aug 2020 - Score: 96 Handicap: 19.2)

An ok public course
Love Belfairs for sentimental reasons. Great figuration but spoilt by dog walkers and general public as set in a park. In different circumstances, could be great.Avoid school holidays as park gets rammed

Poor condition, could be so much better
The course is in a public woods and so you get families walking their dogs, they frequently walk up and down the fairways and you constantly have to wait for the fairways to clear. Should be a fantastic course but spoils from a golfing point of view by the walkersReviewer Rating

23 pound for a public course, greens full of holes and dirt. Fairways worse to be on than the rough . Not again for me

Cheap pay and play
Get what you pay for. Pay and play, cheap - greens could do with a lot of work. Layout is good, back 9 surrounded by trees. Dog walkers throughout the course make for some interesting encounters. Would play once a year just to change things up(Round played: Jul 2018 - Score: 83 Handicap: 12.1)

It was very wet in places and the grass was long on the fairways, greens not cut, very slow to put on
can not blame the green staff because the weather has been very wet the last month or so.
I would like to come back in the summer and play again as the ball would run (not get plugged on the tee shots)

Suffering from te dry spell
Fairways are very parched after the recent hot dry spell. The greens were left with quite a bit of length on them, so putts need a bit of welly to get to the hole.(Round played: Jul 2017 - Score: 91 Handicap: 18)

Lots of families with children on and around the course. Lots of dog walkers, my playing partner had his golf ball stolen by a dog running riot around the fairways.
People walking along the fairways and did not move to allow us to play golf, local dog walkers etc. The round was spoilt by all this and will never go again.

Played here at the weekend for the first time. Got there extra early for a warm up and practice, however no driving range, putting green or club house for afterwards drink and relax.
The course itself is very tired looking and playing. Fairways could do with cutting and being more defined.
No rakes in bunkers, greens were so so not good but not to bad, pretty flat no contours.
Hundreds of dogs walking around and not on leads either, is this a golf course or a park ??
