What The Club Says
Boasting one of the World’s oldest Grade I listed clubhouses, the original building dates back to 1483, and was once the family home of Anne Boleyn (Queen of England 1533 to 1536).
In 1924 the 100-acre course was re-designed by James Braid, the famous designer of Carnoustie, Royal Troon, & Gleneagles, and still today the course retains many of the typical James Braid features.

Excellent course in an excellent setting
Built on land that used to belong to the Boleyn family, including part of the Club house, this is a lovely course. It's well maintained (although currently they're having to let the rough grow as they have no fairway watering). One green showed signs of disease but the rest were very good. It's a plotters course, don't turn up and expect to whack your way round. A lot of planning is needed. And the Stake pie was worth the journey alone.

Nice course - well presented & very good fast (ish greens that will test all levels. The back 9 are generally more interesting & strategic holes ( f/ways not over wide & punishing rough). Overall this James Braid designed course was great value at ?29 (county card rate) & will definitely play again.Reviewer Rating

Classic Braid
Really enjoyed our day trip & this Braid course did not let us down. Tight fairways, dog legs, ample bunkers, ditches, streams & ponds + an out of bounds next to Southend airport runway. Greens were hard to read but ran true & fairways were very fine indeed. Kitchen long shut by the time we finished but 2 interesting beers will make me want to go by train next time.Reviewer Rating

Rochford Hundred
Played Rochford early April, the course had been well maintained through the winter. Fairways and tee boxes very decent, greens had recently been cored so a little bumpy but still fairly quick. Course generally flat but a good variation of holesReviewer Rating

Afternoon Round at Private Local Course
8 of us descended onto the Rochford Hundred club for a Winter deal afternoon round.Conditions were very blowy but warm and very dry.
The greens were really quick and excellent and the fairways were ok ( a bit pitted but playable).
Overall very enjoyable, not sure the Members were that happy about us being there as they questioned our presence there but as we totally outplayed them we ignored their scepticism.

Super setting
The course is in great condition particularly the greens. It's a really nice setting with a historic building as the clubhouse and a working church situated within the course. There are some challenging and tricky holes. I love the 18th hole. The staff and members are so friendly.Reviewer Rating
